I am feeding a base of regular Puppy Chow and I mix in a raw mix that I make myself. I use chicken quarters (put thru grinder- bones & all)/ kidney (also ground)/ rolled barley (consistency of oatmeal)/ yogurt/ eggs/ fresh vegi's (sweet potatoes-squash-gr beans-peas- or?) and I also use fish oil daily. She is also getting green tripe on a daily basis and has been for sometime for nutrition enrichment for the babies as well as to help keep her from getting pulled down. This is how I feed all my dogs and have been for some time now. I am taking her out about every 4-6 hours. She has water set at the side of the whelping box easily within reach and is drinking Plenty! I make sure its always available. As for the babies - since its such a large litter I am supplementing them with puppy formula to help her out and we are rotating them to make sure everyone is getting milk from her as well as the supplement. I wanted to make sure they are getting the antibodies from her they need for a good start.
When the babies get their first shots at 6 weeks - I am reading lots of different opinions as to which shots they should or should not be getting... no lepto or kennel cough is one thing I've seen more than once and I've also found just talking with the vets its a difference of opinion there too depending on which vet you listen to????
I will also be worming with Safeguard when they are 4 weeks old; both babies and momma.
I want to thank everyone for the input here!!! You have all been very helpful. Most of this I was prepared for and knew but its always good to get outside thoughts too! I am trying really hard here not to miss anything!
