Is Rosa Sigs' dam? She's very nice looking. They are all very handsome, & Sig is super. I have read that black spots on the tongue indicate good pigment; my bitch Kali has one. My pups have black mouths, both the roof & around the gums, but no black on their tongues, at least not that I've noticed yet. They're teething now, so I've been peering into their mouths a lot lately, much to their dismay. jh

I have produced about 8 of mine with lots of black spots on some and at least two on 4 of them...
Jane Steffenhagen says it is the black pigmentation from your dominant black /red lines .
She has produced over 1,300.00 dogs with that same pigmentation..Jane is from Germany and owned a kennel there as well as here..She has been in breeding for over 40 years..Jane is in her 70's now .

Excellent photos, Agar's son Sig looks just like him with same excellent male type. Agar produced very good pigment in Sig. Serious WL dogs that are pleasing to look at, with correct GSD temperament that we all want. I like Agar's breeding and the GSDs behind him. He comes from people that are serious about breeding correct GSD temperament, that's for sure. You've got some very nice GSDs.

Thank you Preston and to all for your comments.
Kalibeck- Rosa was not Sigs dam but I have a litter right now out of Rosa and Sig that I've kept a male from this litter who's just absolutely gorgeous. I have a black n red female still available and a sable female that has tons of prey drive I'll keep unless she goes to a serious working home. It's hard to decide who to keep because I find something I like in all of them but I'm afraid if I keep adding dogsmy husband will be handing me and my dogs eviction notices. lol Here's a pciture of Agar and his son Thunder.

Hey friends,
Black spots on the tongue indicate nothing. All breeds have dogs that display this in some dogs, regardless of whether the dog is white, black, red/black etc. I have many GSDs that have black spots on their tongue. It is simply a pigment in the tongue tissue and nothing more, sort of like a portwine stain on a human or some other skin pigment that is different from the rest of the body.

That's what I have always thought too but have known quite a people over the years who thought it meant something etc..
