I would really recommend the singing, or at least vary the sounds you make when communicating with the dog -- it can't hurt, you might feel a bit silly but what the heck . . ..

I have just relayed this to my friend and she is soooo grateful for your replies she is not on the internet so her resources are limited.

She said that she has just been injected with hope hearing about Do right and fear no one 11 month old's ears coming up as her boy is BIG too, she will be sending a pic for me to put up here and it has made her day   so thank you!! and congrats ^.^

more posts are welcome as the more common it turns out to be the more positive she will be!

I would tell your friend not to worry if other people can recognize the breed of dog. Most people are canine stupid. Just the other day I was out with my 4 month old stunning GSD pup (insert proud owner bias here ) and a woman ran up to me to only to say "your dog looks EXACTLY like mine." When I inquired if she also had a GSD pup she replied.....get ready for it....

"well mine is 1 year old and a cocker spaniel." I kid you not....what was the same, they both had paws? hahaha

Here's a picture of one of the best GSDs I ever owned. Only my beloved pet, but he had every single quality (e.g. temperment, loyalty, drive, etc.) that a GSD lover could ask for. Tell me he wasn't a beautiful dog, even with those ears!

OK here is a pic of "the flying nun" as he is affectionately referred to

he is 8 months ... it was taken yesterday, Do right and fear no one did your boy look like this at the same age?

when playing they go up and down and with some massage they stay up for a bit but this is their usual position
