Thanks Preston, I will give that a try too!  If I pretend to eat it she might just think "since it's people food, it MUST taste good!" :D

And I agree with July's advice completely, a very good post.  Another old breeders practice is to give a bitch two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in her food every day starting with her season and continue through breeding to whelping.  It tends to produce thicker coats earlier for some reason, supposedly linked to all the minerals in apple cider vinegar, nd it is believed to decrease whelping problems.  I used to use it years ago and I think that it was helpful that way.

Great than that's what I'll do. I'm relieved to know it is an easy fix, or should be. Thanks all for taking the time to answer my questions. No plans on breeding her yet, she's got a lot to prove still, but I will keep that info! I always want to learn new tips about every aspect of owning these dogs that I can. I figure there's always something new to learn and I've learned a lot from just reading more than posting here.

Also I am just going to post a couple of links here if anyone is interested in checking her out. With the picture of me "trying" to stack her well LOL my friend who was helping me take the picture had to leave so I didn't have time to fuss over a perfect stack :) Also I am open to any comments about her conformation. Her ears are both up today too!......Stacy

Here she is, Bella (Jena v.d. Ernetranch)

Very attractive little girl.  Nice croup, angles and pigment.  Very nice head and bitch type.  I'm sure that her opastyerns will firm up in time.

Thanks Preston (and everyone!) I will let you know over the next couple of weeks how she looks.  She is such  an easy pup (well except some crate training problems!) She sitz already perfectly, and nice n straight, not a "lazy" sit!  She also jumps up on me when I ask her to, and she know the difference between both commands.....and today I think I will throw platz into the routine :) .............

When she sitz she looks so calm...My Galan looks ready to spring out of his skin while he's waiting for me to release him from a sitz or platz! LOL

My working line pup had pasterns the same angle at the same age.  They have gotten better as she's aged and at this point hey both appear within the breed standard.  Here is a link to her pic from ~16 weeks, she is now about 1.5 years.  Improvment is about 30% over where they were.  I did A LOT of walking her.  Also, tried to put sand in kennel run (think wlaking or running on beach...) and it helped a little, but was a mess and she ended up ingesting a lot of it.  I took it back out after a week, but you can give it a try.  I walked her 2-4 miles per day 5 days a week and let her run and play, worked on recalls and ball retrieves at a reasonable level and they have improved with age.  The most dramatic improvement was noticed about 2 weeks after starting the walks - way back around 20 weeks of age.

Mine also had one leg that was more pronouced then the other.

Here is a link to my thread, if your search for "pastern" or "weak pastern" there are several otherthreads.

Hey Calvin, Thank you for the link. Your pup's were really low! Glad that they have improved some. She looks very intense in that picture! I bet she's awesome to work with.

I walk Bella morning and night and I have been trying to keep her active during the day. She has somewhat low drive so I am trying to keep things interesting for her.  Thanks again for the links ......Stacy
