Tomatoe juice doesnt work , nor pineapple nor any of the remedies..
The Peroxice works the best ,still leaving a while of odor...It will have to just wear off...Be patient ,,,,someday it will be gone....

Thanks to everyone who replied. Wish I'd thought of tomato juice and vodka for me at the time!
Sunsilver, Sueincc, Sparrow and Shepherdwoman - I will try the peroxide mix formula when next I try to de-skunk my pup.
Brittany, I tried the pup on a short (12') track and he had trouble. It worried me because he's been doing much, much longer tracks with right angles - but I figured any dog with a snootful of skunk scent probably can't smell worth a darn. He's getting a break from tracking until the smell goes away. I just hope his good nose comes back.
Brent, thanks for a scary thought there. Considering how dogs kill prey, the smell would be everywhere. Wow! Odor problem indeed!

At least one of my dogs gets skunked every year and the best thing is the peroxide. They will still smell a bit but usually only if they get wet is it very noticable.Sparrow.... about husbands... once mine came in and grabbed a 22 while I was on the phone, I thought "the dogs couldn't have been that bad!!" Nope, two of them had a skunk cornered and wouldn't leave it , when he got back skunk was dead, dogs were stinkin' bad!! Next time I woke at like 6:00am to barking and skunk smell, jumped out of bed to find my boy rubbing his face all over the carpet! Third times a charm, he wakes me up at some ungodly hour to tell me Ivan got skunked, do I want him to leave him outside, its kinda cold!! Our husbands may be related...
