I'm sorry guys,
That was last night and maybe I was thinking about something else. I hear so much about shelters and too many dogs in need, so many dogs having sezures, bad allergy's. Bad this, bad that, maybe the breed is suffering from too much of us.
A dog should be healthy, able to give birth, not be allergic to anything, have a sound mind and body, able to survive well on whatever its fed. I just think we interfere too much with nature and it weakens the breed in general. (this applies to all life by the way). I think the vets are making a killing on our fears. I think even with a vets care a lot of animals suffer because we can't let go.
You can't treat a dog like a china doll and expect it not to break. I feel for anyone with these kinds of problems , its heart breaking to me as much as it is to the rest of you. But I believe in a certain quality of life, and without it life is not worth living. Not for a dog, for myself, not for any creature. So I'm only being true to my own beliefs when I say something like maybe the animal really would be better off passing. We are the only ones who suffer when we have to say goodbye and that takes some strenght on our parts.
I hope the dog is going to be fine, but its not fine now.
Again I'm sorry, I just wouldn't want the dog to be like us humans, living on drugs and life support, going against the natural order of things just because we can afford it. Where is the quality of life and the strength of a species.
Oh well, I'm sorry to be so hard but its how I feel.

Thank you to all who have replied. I have not used Frontline or any products like it. The episode has not followed any vaccines. It seems to folow stressful situations. He is completely fine now, and the Bile acids results should be back Mon. The vet xrayed and saw nothing out of the ordinary,
Blitzen: the support group would be great.
***Two Moons-how very sad that you think that having an animal brings suffering. I reflect very happily on my dogs that have passed. I have been a vet tech for 12 years, and turned to this board out of frustration with vets who only want to look at things in black and white. I hope that if your family ever needs to make an important decision for you that they don't just go "oh well, chalk it up to survival of the fittest!"

mking, I'll PM you with the info for the support group as soon as I can. I have drops in my eyes and can't see too well right now so it may take a day to get it all together . I was a vet tech too, know where you're coming from. Keep the faith.

In one way Two Moons is right, if there is a real weakness and the Dog is going to suffer the right way is to have it put down a pity that cannot happen to us humans, but it cannot
On the other hand if the Pup can live well with help of medication, and live a long and happy life then certainly go down that road, its not as if the Animal has a specific roll to play except to be loved by the owner
WHAT' does bug me with some of these replies is 'Do not breed from it'
It seems to me that a lot of you guys over there in the States only keep the Dogs for what finacial gain you can reap from keeping them
A lot do not own the Dogs for what they really are for Companionship

Steve,
Its not just the USA, and its not only dog's. A lot of bad breeding goes on. Mans not as smart as he thinks, and some just don't care. Now we will have genetic engineering, wonderful.
Humans have their own genetic issue's, and then there is the battle over( the right or the choice)?
Medicine and science want's us to live longer? Why? I would rather live better.
Oh well, its an old arguement for me.
No creature should suffer and nature has ways to deal with this, man use's emotions.
Your right , if an animal can live a useful life with no pain or fear thru the use of drugs fine, but it shouldn't have to be in that situation in the first place.
We all have different views about life and death. Mine are very basic.
Brent.

Hi Steve
Can't speak for anyone else, but my mention of not breeding was not based on any assumption that this puppy was intended to earn money. People who have a beautiful and much loved companion dog are often tempted to breed for all sorts of emotional reasons, from wanting to have one of his babies to pride because someone has approached them and asked to use him on their bitch and it may simply not occur to them that there is a bigger picture to breeding. Ordinary pet owners do not think like breeders and we should expect this, after all, humans knowingly reproduce their own hereditary problems all the time because of their desire to be parents.
