Gotta be careful loading the calcium, but I've always used oxytocin and never had a problem.. its been about 25 years now... why the worry??

I only use it when things are starting to drag ( in small doses and they work) and before anybody gets ready to lock and load, because the longer it takes the more tired mom gets and  its easier to lose babies that way.. ...

However, have never heard the Tums thing.. i have taken Tums during  an all night puppy birth because I get heartburn but not to help the mom!

Wonder how a woman during childbirth would react to being offered a Tums???? Someone could get hurt!! LOL!

When my boy was a puppy he was a little down on his front paws. A friend (who has been a breeder for years) told me to give him 1 Tums a day and it would help with the problem.  At 5 yr old he stands fine and has never had a problem.  I still give him a flavored Tums every now and then.
