If she's tattooed and registered with USA/SV she can have her hips certified in Germany with the "a" stamp at 12 months.  Otherwise, if it were me, I would wait until she's two at this point.  Because as others have said, there is no obvious signs of HD at this time.

Hope you didn't have to pay too much for this xray..............

Wait until she is at least 9 months old & have them redone by a vet that
that is familiar  with xraying for OFA pics,

but if you are just concerned with her having good hips to do Obedience with,
and you are not planning on breeding her,

Then, her hips look really good, don't waste anymore money, you have the xray you need,
and if you are looking to certify her and title her, depending on who you are going to use,
wait till she is 18 months to 2 years old, I'm no expert, but I personally would not be worried
about HD after looking at these xrays, yes, they are positioned bad, but they look pretty tight
in the sockets.

Check around for a vet who does them for the club members of breeders that do hips  .    I would keep puppy slim ,,no jumping and so some research about diet and excerising too much and how to keep pup in tow..till he is 24 months....

You really need a qualified veterianarian preferably in radiology to read your x-rays.  There have been many instances of unqualified vets misreading normal dogs as dysplastic and dysplastic dogs as normal.   This is especially important when you are considering purchase.  If you have a prelim you want to know that you know that you know.  Just two of many examples:   (1)  I had a wonderful dog in training. Our client requested that I take the dog for his OFA x-rays while he was still in training. He decided upon a local vet instead of  a radiologist. The local vet read his hips as normal.  The x-rays were sent to the OFA.  When he received his readings from the OFA back the owner was devastated - the dog was dysplastic.   (2)  An owner gave her dog away because her vet x-rayed the dog and unknowlegably told her that her dog was dysplastic.  Her new owner took her to Dr. Keith Taylor in Rockwall who is very knowlegable.  The x-rays were sent to the OFA.  The female is OFA certified Hips EXCELLENT!  (Only about 2 % of GSDs whose x-rays are submitted to the OFA come back excellent.)  This dog now has been bred to the top working dog in the country. Can you guess her pups are going to sell for?  The original owner lost very valuable dog because of wrong choice of vets!   In the Houston Area: Dr. Charlie B. Quick, D.V.M., M.S., Diplomat ACVR 1515 Lake Point Parkway Sugar Land, TX 77478 281-491-7800   In the Dallas Area: Dr. Keith Taylor, D.V.M. Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic 2897 State Hwy 66 Rockwall, TX 75087 972-722-9422   Hope this helps some folks.   Victoria   PS  In addition to hips and elbows,  Dr Quick will also do cardiac, thyroid, and patella (knee) OFA certification.  More information at The Orthopedic Foundation For Animals:  http://www.offa.org

Victoria, are you tring to say that the OFA vets read the x-ray wrong the first time or that the first vet took a bad x-ray and read it right or that Dr. Quick took a better x-ray or even further, that the OFA knows Dr. Quick thus giving his x-ray OFA excellent?

My opinion is the articular cartilage and femoral head look really good right there. Although with all these posts with rays on here, I do see a growth pattern. Does anyone else see it ?

Wow! That dog was sedated??? Why couldn't the vet get her straight in either picture?? I would ask for my money back, seriously, I doubt two xrays were cheap. Or have them redone. Did his uneducated techs do the films?? Looks like the film that is taken when you want to see the abdomin, not the hips. I would not be able to even guess good bad or ugly from this photo.

Sorry......

If I took that picture, the vet that I work for would send my butt right back into the Xray room.  LOL

I wouldn't even bother showing the vet the xray actually!  Sometimes weird stuff happens and what not.

He did these himself and developed them himself. He had another set that were straighter but he left them to long in the developing solution ( his words) and they were to dark, really really dark. I am going to try to get over there tomorrow morning with my camera to get pics of these and the others.

Thank you for the information, no they were not cheap. He told me before hand he would not guarentee them so I guess that is his way of saying you get what I shoot.
