Yet another great photo! Where did you take it?
You and Chili can still have that, just not every time she gets in the water. Give some thought to getting a small inflatable canoe or a kayak, easy to haul around. Paddle along the shoreline and have her swim along for the exercise. Then, to finish off the afternoon, let her be a dock dog. Once.
We have to put floating lines on our dogs when we go to the lake, elsewise we can't get them to come back out. Water is the one place were our otherwise excellent recalls fail miserably. Your Chili strikes me as another of these water crazy dogs :)

I agree with SS, you are less likely to have bloat with torsion as a sequelae if you feed raw. It contains lots of enzymes (which would be destroyed by cooking) the mass moving in the gut is reduced, there is usually less gas formed, and the stool volume is greatly reduced. SS, any chance you would email me or PM me that recipe of yours? I would appreciate it.

SS, Preston...I'd love to feed raw, but my dear husband wouldn't tolerate $90/month per dog on food with all the money I spend/ have spent on training and healthcare already...but aside from that my dogs are housedogs and I have a 5 year old kissing on them all the time, it just doesn't seem sanitary. But SS I would like to see the recipie anyhoo, I'll PM you.
Aqua, thank you again for the great advice, much appreciated.
I took the photo at a fishing pond near me. It's a beautiful place, but I only have a month or two each year...only allowed to swim her before and after fishing season. Taking her there is Chicken soup for my soul.
Your Chili strikes me as another of these water crazy dogs :)
Psycho water dog is more like it, lol. I think she was a lab in her former life, lol. She even get's excited about baths...even if she's not the one getting it.

It's not $90 per month per dog. You can buy chicken rear quarters for approx. $0.50 pound and freeze them individually in baggies. he dog willlove eating it frozen and it will clean his teeth at the same time. That is $15 per month for the chicken and if you buy frozen veggies to add and maybe 1/2 cup kibble that will raise it to no more than $25-30/month. If you want more specifics, PM me. Good luck. I find it cheaper than if I used only a super premium dog food like Royal Canin GSD 24. Don't ever feed cooked chicken bones, frozen or thawed raw are okay, but never cooked, they become dangerous that way.

Chili is definately "pysco" about water. To bad you don't have video of her at the dog pool! WOW - what an obsession. While Andy and Molly - love the water - Chili is obsessed with it. Nothing like seeing her jump for a toy. I also love how she wants the toy thrown the correct way so that she can catch it in the air!
Hope Chili continues to get better,
Cheryl

Hi Melanie,
I think that you can do things in moderation with Chili and keep giving her the pepcid and gas x. Prilosec is also a good acid reducer that you might want to think about.
