I always hate how southerners rub the northern noses in it! Why do you constantly feel the need to rub it in? When is the last time a northerner called you in August and asked if you were melting? Thanks a lot, allaboutthedogs! The whole south is now on my shitlist!

Hey, I'm from the south but not in the south. AZ right now. I did my time in New England. Eighteen years there and I'm still thawing out after two years here! I know all about the cold, believe me. I'm an outdoor person and rode horses, x country skiied, etc., no matter the weather.
It's funny though, I went back East last summer to visit our grown kids and it was about ninety degrees. I thought I would freaking DIE! I forgot how damn humid it is there. Unless it's monsoon season the humidity here is around 10-15% and a day that's 115 is more tolerable than one that is 90 there.
The only two things I really miss about New England are my grown kids/their spouses and the Red Sox. Aside from that I felt like I got out of prison. I half expected someone to give me forty bucks and a new suit.

What part of Az? My son's mom-in-law lives in Prescott, we've been there a lot, used to escape Vegas when we lived there & go to Az & just hang out, go hiking, look for petroglyphs, etc. A lot of really cool geology there! We decided we were acclimated to the heat when we felt it was cool enough to wear jeans mid summer. We used to love to go to the mountains....I really miss the southwest. I miss the smell of sage in the air, and how vividly blue the sky was....the openess......sigh. I can't believe I've been back here 13 years now....I must be masochistic! jackie harris

Southern AZ. Prescott is a nice area. Just too crowded for me. It's also much hotter there than here. A good ten degrees difference, usually in the summer. We aren't far from the Catalina mountains and they are fifteen to twenty degrees cooler than here. We go there a lot in the summer.
My husband could never figure out why I felt claustraphobic back east. Until we moved here. Now he understands. People who've never seen the sky out here, or the sunsets, are really missing out. I used to think the pics of sunsets must have been photoshopped because of the brilliance and unusual hues. I'm spoiled. I'll never be able to enjoy them anywhere else now.
Now if I can just figure a way to relocate the kids and Fenway I'll be all set.
