WHEW!!  So nice to hear see these positive posts!    But, I mean, really....Pia Blackwell???

You got exactly what I would expect of Pia!!   I would have been shocked at anything less.

Platz,

It is good to see that there are so many dogs out of her kennel in your club. I was very impressed with what she has produced lately.  Not to mention it was an Asko litter.  I am glad to hear she was so excited she called you.  Originally I was supposed to just send her an email because she is 3 hours ahead of me.  Iron did not come in until 9:55 PM PST that was almost 1:00 AM where she is.  She actually called me on my way home from the airport.  It was 2:00 AM her time.  It is that kind of care that makes me feel good about what I got from her.  I can tell you one thing for sure...Iron is not the last dog from Vom Rheinland I will own!

You see folks, there ARE excellent and reputable breeders out there who maintain the highest ethical standards. I have never dealt with Pia and have not bought a dog from her. But I have NEVER heard one negative thing about her standards, her ethics or how she cares for the dogs in her kennel. People who strive to be good ambassadors for the breed and for the sport of Schutzhund do maintain these standards. But there are some who do not and all too often, too many people are ready to jump in and shield all of us from the real facts (and sure, sometimes the wool is pulled over peoples' eyes). It is good that someone took the time to post this. I would remind everyone that there are some excellent people who care about the breed and the sport out here. One just must wade through all those who don't deserve to be in the same league as people like Pia.

I maintain that ethical breeders, trainers, kennels etc. do not need to defend themselves because they don't have problems in the first place. In the rare instance that there would be an issue, these are also the people who would "make it right", regardless. As I have always posted here and elsewhere, do your homework when selecting a breeder. Things are not always as they seem, even when people have fancy websites, make incredible claims, give unrealistic guarantees etc.

Good for you Pia! Thank you for being an ambassador for the breed and the sport.

Hi Shawn

I am very glad you like Iron !! The entire litter was of very good quality unfortunately out of the 6 males born only 1 ( yours) went to a working home . Not by choice on my part however working people did not seem to be as interested even after dropping the price down  perhaps one reason is that they where not born in Germany !! Iron was one of the males I would have chosen  for myself therefore he was the last one to be sold . I kept a female out of the litter . Ink has everything one looks for in a potential working dog. I prey to the Schutzhund God's that she will have healthy joints ! I believe  she will be worth her weight in gold  :))

I was looking for an Asko daughter to purchase to replace my previous now retired from breeding Asko daughter .No  good ones  to be purchased.

My partner Markus and I planned the  litter  ASKO AND FLOWER ,Flower is an excellent female so  I reserved a female pup in that phone conversation  :))) ! I was fortunate when Markus  decided for  Flower to come to the USA and for me to  raise the litter !!

Thank you Shawn for your post it's well appreciated . Reviews such as yours are like kindling wood for  my passion  to produce  a very good working GSD !!

I talked to Markus the other day Werner decided to no longer offer Asko for stud . Frozen semen is also not available  .

So perhaps the I -litter vom Rheinland are the last direct Asko Lutter progeny !!

So 2 females and one male will be on the field   and if all goes well titled and breed surveyed and I assured the future of vom Rheinland :))

Pia

 Mystere,

See, I am not so bad a person as you once thought!

And yes, there are good people out here.....but there are some who lack good character too!

Yes, don't I know it!!  The first dog I bought for schutzhund was from a nabob par excellence!!   Due to his shenanigans, I could not even breed an excellent  working, stable and social, V-structure bitch...because I WAS NOT SURE WHO THE HELL SHE WAS!!!   He told me there were 10 puppies in the litter.  He registered at least 11 puppies (her AKC registration was '/11"), but according to one witness who was a friend of his and saw the litter the first week, there were only SEVEN.  He had her foster them while construction was done at his kennels and dropped off NINE.  He also left the paperwork.  That is when she learned that the dam was "severely dysplastic" in one hip ( my bitch was OFA good, and one hip, according to Conley would have warranted excellent, if both had been that way).   I was only sure that I got the puppy I wanted from that litter and it was a good one.  I could never be sure that the pedigree was really hers, though.  Fottunately, that boil on the butt of the dog world is long gone, at least, he is no longer anywhere that I have to even hear he is still alie.

The second was from Mark & Michele Scarberry and I could not have done better, if I had "architechted" a breeder to deal with.

I just wanted to let everyone know that this is the first pup I have ever purchased in the US without seeing first.  I can honestly say I will be getting another dog from Pia at some point down the line.  I would and  do recommend her to anyone looking for a pup.  She is very knowledgeale and honest.  Something that is very rare to find.  If anyone is considering her please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Shawn this one made me smile because just a few weeks ago   2 people said  aw shoot they like potatochips  you can not just have one  !!  Both purchased another Rheinländer  for the sport :))

here a pic :)

Yondo and Jett ( pup) vom Rheinland   Yondo is HOT by Darolyn St Lois and her hubby   owns Jett .

I did not purchase a pup from Pia but did talk to her and e-mailed her all during the experience I was shaking my head and saying why can't other breeders act  like this.  Pia is real knowledgeable and gives you the straight scoop but was a pleasure to deal with.  She is a credit to the term breeder.   Dealing with Pia was a breath of fresh air.   If your looking for a working line pup you would be well served by contacting Pia.
