Aye Yellow and Hodie lasss ye both give valuable advice aye. Me had this condition ever since me picked up a buxom lass at t' Chum Bucket Lounge t' other night Aye. It be true Yellow lassy twas a night flooded with grog aye. its all a blur, but me remember lots o' heat, yeast, and foul odors involved Aye. Hodie lassy ye may just be on target aye. Me remember t' buxom lass tellin' me she was from Europe and had been under t' weather Aye!

by Blitzen on 23 January 2008 - 00:01

Shiver me timbers, Cappie,  sounds a me like  ye got yerself a dose of the bullhead clap. Yer badly in need of penneycillin.

thanks for great suggestions.

she used to have loose stool but sometimes firm not always.

but these days almost firm all the time.

also, i didn't ask for antihistamines but the vet provided me to feed her to see how that goes.

Yellowrose: thanks for all your suggestions but i think you got confuse with other members problems. i didn't feed her diahrrea medicine as she didn't had it.

inorder for using shampoo i use earth bath natural shampoo. if bathing is issue sure definitely i'll avoid to bath only if required. she was smelling bad and thought to give her two - three weeks apart. but cetainly won't.

Kool, if I were you, I'd stop all those baths too. Some vet dermatologists  will recommend weekly baths with medicated shampoos and oil treatments (AlphaKeri is good for that), but  the average dog shouldn't have so many baths as it dries out their skin. Again, if all else fails, see a dermatologist.

zacsmum, Nay lassy do not believe that for a second. T' European lassys be me all time favorite Aye! they be tastin' like Chicken Aye!!!

Blitzen, me be startin t' really worry aye. these itchy little buggars be crawlin' all over me body and private parts AYE! be they t' bullhead Clappers ye speak of?

I would also say that you're bathing too much.  That could be part of what's contributing to "the smell".  She's out of balance.  I would stop the baths immediately, continue with the yogurt (plain - not the flavored yogurts as they contain sugars and sugars = yeast), give her both salmon oil (or fish oil) and vitamin E.  Groom lightly, taking care not to "scratch" or irritate the skin if you use a slicker brush.  Give it a month.  (You can give her antihistamine during that time if needed for itching, but no baths.  She may smell "doggy" during that time, but that may be your doing with the baths and is something you'll just have to deal with for a bit until she "heals", if you know what I mean.)  If you see no improvement I would have her tested for allergies.

Giza was bathed when she arrived home here after coming off the plane at 11 weeks.  She hasn't needed a bath since (5 months old now, still doesn't need one) and gets brushed twice or three times a week.  No odor.  No skin issues other than the occasional itch as it's a bit dry in the house with the heat up to 68 degrees.  Clean, healthy coat.

She is raw fed - properly raw fed as have all my dogs been for many (over 20) years now (I'm not a "bandwagon baby") , so she has a different diet than your girl.  No grains, no fillers, all 100% human grade products.

Good luck.  I hope you find the problem and she heals soon.  It's miserable when they're miserable.

Aye Capt. Mike,

If this little bugger indeed came off a ye body, I hate to think o' where ye have been frolicking. Phtirius pubis is what I see. Ye must hav' been spending yer time in warmer places.....these be tough to rid ye body of....

by Blitzen on 23 January 2008 - 03:01

Nay, dem's not the bullhead clappers, Cappie. Looks like ya went and got yerself a double take of critters and clappers.  Yer in need of a dippin and a dosin to git over all yer afflications.  Ye might wanna think bout a flea collar fer  your private parts to be keep away those pubis critters Hodie  been awarnin' ya bout. Ye  might know em by their nautical term - crab lice. Best to be aspraying down them tasty lil chickens before ye be apluckin' em.

Cap't I think they are all correct. You are bathing too much. This should clear everything up.
