This looks very promising and fun. Now UScA has competiton from GSDCA-WDA, akc WDS and SDA. This type of program makes more sence to ME than PSA.

I AM ACTUALLY A MEMBER OF SDA. I REALLY WOULD LIKE THE INPUT ON OTHERS INVOLVED IN OTHER ORGANAZATIONS HOW DO THEY COMPARE. I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN OTHER ORGANAZATIONS, BUT HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH MY EXPIRIENCES.

Ceph,
I agree with your comment about Damien I too have the upmost respect for him. He does a great job with his dogs and is very knowledegable with the working dogs. His positive additude on things in general is something we all should try to be more like.
I saw the little Boston you made reference to earlier in your comments last year at Premeir and it was really cool watching this dog work.
Wish you the best of luck with your ventures in SDA training.

I'm very pleased to read all of the positive comments regarding SDA (Service Dogs of America). I started with the SDA organization several years ago and have been hooked every since. I respect the fact that SDA is actually the only working dog organization in the USA that recognizes Protection, Police K9 titles, etc through a national registry, UKC (United Kennel Club). Yes vom ost see AKC is trying to jump on the band wagon; although, they will never be the first since UKC has that bragging right. I have been able to put several titles on my dogs and have learned to be an even better trainer and helper/decoy in working and training directly with Jack Rayl. In differentiating working dogs from sport dogs, SDA and Jack Rayl has done an exceptional job in it's breeding working dog traits in it's dogs and training workability in dogs it trains. I have to ask the question. If you are in the woods and are approached by an idiot that want to take your wallet, would you want a sport dog might run away faster than you could day get'em boy or a real working dog that won't have it any other way than to rip the guts out of this bad guy. In the meantime Mr. Sport Dog has won every agility contest know to man by running away, dipping, and dogging trees like no other coward could. I know there are strong dogs in other organizations, and many sport dogs do naturally have genuine protective instincts. SDA seriously focuses on this principle in it's training and breeding. Do come to an SDA trial and see for yourself. Breed

i dont care if you do Schutzhund, psa, sda, ring sport(of any type), training police k-9s or search and rescue....
thank goodness you are at least working your dog. especially if you have a breed that is meant to work.
while choices of what you want to do with your dog are great,, i wonder if we keep coming up with new clubs and training styles, if we are not hurting ourself in the long run? if we keep splitting off into other groups, what will become of the larger clubs that are needed to maintain world status?
SDA,,, are any of there titles recongnized by any other club?

No one outside of the UKC recognizes SDA. The FCI is the international breed organization. The FCI recognizes one breed registry from each country. The AKC is recognized by the FCI as the breed organization from the USA. The AKC is not an official member fo the FCI just the ONLY recognized breed resgistry for the USA.

Meaning the FCI doesnt recognize their titles either, just their pedigrees (right?)
As far as I know the SDA is only recogni by the UKC.

Honestly, I don't think any of us cares...at least I don't. Who outside of the sport dog world really cares about sport titles? It's funny, I'll talk to people that do AKC obedience let's say. And they'll go on and on about this title or that title...to me, it means nothing more then that they do something with their dog. so for me to NOT do SDA because somebody in another country doesn't recognize the title is just plain idiotic. But then I may be a bit weird, because it's about the DOG not the piece of paper. And I HAVE titled my dogs in schutzhund (so not somebody going off about titles because I can't get them....I've taken bh-sch3 IPO3 HOT). I"m just saying, the minute it becomes about the titles and not about the dogs, is the minute I would walk away from it all because that defeats the whole purpose.
So quite frankly, who the heck cares if it's recognized beyond UKC, AKC, USA, FCI blah blah blah.
