Hi GF, thanks for the video clip. If you want Andy to do leg grips you may have to start from the beginning. Meaning, if you have not done so already, no more arm grips. I would start with your helper keeping his arms at his side or behind him. No tempting arm targets. For leg work, the decoy should very lightly swing and present the leg target to the dog. This should be done with a few misses at first, then the grip. The lightly swinging leg is like making prey drive with the sleeve. Have your decoy watch "River Dance". They have fast feet and great balance without raising their arms. LOL. Have fun!

Thanks Kyle and GARD.
The leg bite in the video was not intentionally offered. Dave asked if he bites legs in a previous training session, I said I don't know....now we do.
I asked here because if a rebite to the upper body was an "issue" in trial or just a "negative" thing to do I would make a point to train him for leg bites (something that I have not done with him... not sure what training he's had on legs before I got him). Dave says not an issue, just wanted other opinions.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Melanie

realcold, how do you interpret what i said as whinning?Im just saying that we dont have PSA here and thats all so i dont know what you're talking about. And if i have something to say about someone i assure you that i will say it and sign my name to it so please dont concern yourself with that..As far as good clubs,I was a member of probably the best one but had to stop awhile back due to personal reasons. Before you are so quick to judge me as a know it all as you claim you should first know me and then make that determination. My favourite saying is I KNOW NOTHING and am always willing to learn.I just had a change of heart in general in respect to schutzhund thats all,we all like different things at different times in our lives.Have a nice evening bob

in a psa trial you must tell judge where dog will bite upper body or leg if leg you get less points if you say leg & he bites upper you lose points & out

The last post is not entirely correct. It is recomended that you tell tthe judge where your dog bites, but if the dog doesn't take that particular "target" you won't lose points due to that. The grip will be judged and then also the out will be. These are all seperate.
As far as if your dog transfers it's grip you will lose points as well as run the risk of the dog not getting another bite. It's best that where the dog initially bites that they stay on that spot untill you are told to out the dog.
If you have any questions feel free to email me about them.
