HD is NOT usually a death sentence. Hell, in the old days they never x-rayed dogs, so no one knew whether they were dysplastic or not! It just means you can't breed your dog. No problem. There are plenty of dogs being bred. ;) Note: Don't show the dog the x-ray. LOL SS

as everyone else has already said, "keep muscles toned." i will just add that inactivity can cause as much or more arthritis as too much activity. need a happy medium, but don't let him abuse himself. if you keep him in good shape and healthy, there is no reason why he couldn't live a pretty normal life for up to 10 or 12 yrs. good luck with it. pjp
