Louise
Don't take my quote the wrong way. I usually have my dogs ready for the BH at the minimum required age. All I am saying is that with the proper foundation, the dog can easily be trained. I usually guage each dog individually to see when we will start obedience. Even when we do start, it is not pressured or with structure in mind. On average, I would say I start teaching my dogs the sit, platz etc. out of drive building, around the age of six months. Some are sooner and some are later.

I wait until they are a little older too, but I am never quite sure if it's because I adore letting them just be wild young thangs or if it's because I'm lazy & find it easier and faster to train them when they are a little older.
What's that old saying about dog trainers never agreeing......? Honestly, I think it's more about pesonal preference than anything, but for me, I wait.

Training should be fun, and if your puppy is having fun it obviously won't be stressed. Being an inconsistent handler or using unfair compulsion will stress the dog out, not learning. I teach all my pups come, sit, down with a bit of cheese when they are very young. You can also teach your puppy commands AND build drive.

Hi, thanks everybody for your opinions. Now I'm the stressed one because there not seems to be a "rule" about the age.
Actually I have not any rush about training him, I don't pretend to put him in any competition.
And of course we play a lot just for fun, I know he's a tinny puppy.
He just seems to enjoy paying atention and learning things, of course every session has been positive and ends with a lot of tactical praise. He learns extremely fast, a couple of tries and he grasp de ideas. He makes eye contact since almost a week.
But, following your advices, I'll slow down the training then. I'll keep playing with the commands he already knows for now.
Best regards and thanks again

As long as it's fun for both of you it's OK. They grow up so fast, the main thing is to savor his yhouth - I even shed a few tears when they no longer have puppy breath!

I touch and pet him a lot!
