Opinions on Xray - Page 2

We received OFA results yesterday - and you guys were right on. She ofa'd fair. I did not post what the vet had told us with my original post. He called before we picked her up and told us that she had hip dysplasia and that she would not pass ofa. When we were looking at the xray at the office they had a vet tech go over the xrays with us. I kept asking her to show me where the vet said he saw a problem and she kept saying on the right side, but could not point anything out. I wonder if I can get my $80.00 for interpreting the xray back! LOL. I should pay you guys on this board. You are more accurate. Thanks again for giving me your opionions - you are good! Cheryl

Renofan, I had a similar thing happen with a female I owned, she came into heat around the same time as her xrays were taken. She came back OFA Fair. I contacted OFA, they pulled the xrays and the Dr contacted me back and said it was worth a shot to re xray. She could not guarantee, but she thought they could be better. They give you up to 3 tries, but you are stuck with your final result. I sent another set of xrays in a few months later and they came back OFA Good. So to me it was worth it. Good luck. KIM

Glad to hear she got a number. I don't get too hung up on ratings so would not re-xray her myself, but it might get her a better rating. IMO it's just as important to try to find out about her siblings and how their hips look.

Oops, I meant to say I don't get too hung up on OFA ratings. They are way too inconsistent.
