I didn't either - she was unusual. She had a tortie look with tabby markings that split her body in half - tabby black on one side and tabby red on the other - she looked funny walking away from you - here is her mom & brother:

yea, looks like she was trying to be a calico too with the white on her paws, but her back looks torti

What a great story. Our Lord may not have written the note or purchased the book, but His hand certainly directed the wonderful soul who did.

I've read this before. It is very touching.
And, for what it's worth, what an angel of a person that would take the time to go purchase the book and write a letter back to the little girl.
