Someone please explain about the "bumper" that animules was talking about...I remember on the original thread ,before it got banished , several were discussing how the dog saw or they thought he smelled or saw the bumper , where it wasnt suppose to be, and I took it ,to mean, it distracted this dog and it lost a point for something...???????

by animules on 16 November 2007 - 02:11
Bumper was left forgotten by somebody somewhere outside the end of the field. The dog lost 10 points as the dog did not platz on the send away but did a beautiful search, find, and retrieve of the bumper back to his handler.
Did I get that right??????

I have the wonderful feeling that most of you pet your dogs in the morning and maybe MAYBE trot them around a little ring (fufu) with people yelling "lars...lars..." with your little bells, tugs, toys, and over squated roach back useless peices of miss shapin dog species, but by god you can train, trial and compete on a national level as these people your complaing about do ...in the words of DR Evil...RIGHT...
I don,t have the fondness feeling for the way USA sets it,s self up for the few big time folks BUT i do realize there individual accomplishments they have done it...What have you done???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Bh Barron von Oberdier
Sch2 Axel vom Matschenka
It,s not much... But i,d bet it,s much more then most the mouth,s out ther running.
Oh by the way CGC is not a working title so forget the AKC stuff.

Animules,
Yep, you got it right. And, it must be said, Kandi handled the very bad situation with humor and sportsmanship. The New England region sent a contingent of competitors and spectators and boy, were they a joy to behold. They were supportive of their club members and each other. I never saw anyone from the Outkast club come off the field without being greeted by club members, other regional members, and particularly Claudia Romard. Claudia was "there" for all her club-mates, depsite the fact that she was also competing and needed to take time for her pre-trial preparations, too. I have no clue how these people act "at home," but this is the second year that I have seen that New England contingent and you would know that they were all from the same club, were it not for the different club jackets.
The regional director, Pia Blackwell, has to be given some of the credit for setting the tone. Pia "mommed" every single one of them. With all the events scheduled for next year ( especially the WUSV Championship), I don't know if i will be able to make it to the North American

Championship, but one of the reasons I want to attend is because of the wonderful people I have met from that region and the way they treat each other. They should NOT stand out as so exceptional: their behavior and conduct and sportsmanship is what we should expect in the sport. Sadly, it is rare.

Mystere,
I grew up in the sport and one things that I will always remember is this team feeling. We had a wonderful club that went to all kinds of tournaments together and everybody supported one another. I am fortunate to say that a lot of people in our Region had similar experiences and try to be a good example, showing new people in the sport how it is suppose to be. I truly think that this is the way to go, to be a role model and teach the new people about sportmanship, team spirit and fairness, because some of those people are the next competition generation. If they learn from day one, then they will not want to go without this kind of atmosphere once they start trialing. Maybe we can slowly convince more people to do the same. I would not want it differently.

That's right Claudi !! I would not want it any other way either !! I am so proud of each and every one of the New England dog handler teams and even prouder to be their Regional Director . New England ROCKS !! Outkast is a newly estaplished club in our Region with many old timers , top competitors that lend a hand to those just getting their feet wet in the sport , super group of people .
This sport is hard enough and without team spirit it would be a lonely road and a even harder one to boot so no matter what happends on that trial field someone is always there to lend a hug a cheer and yup we cry too !
I know I could never achieve my goals without the help and support of my friends and family so every score I achieve with my dog is theirs too !!
oh yellow rose I did forget I check that file cabinett I think I do have an extra copy . I am bad I know :)
This years event was very well conducted and my hat off to the hosting clubs. Every member I was in contact with was very friendly and helpful a real nice group of people . Everything ran like clock work down to turning in the bibs and receiving scorebooks !! Awesome JOB !!

I also like to mention that the rule about no prong or e-collars on the event site (practice times etc.) turned out to be a very positive atmosphere . An atmospehere UScA and the hosting clubs can be proud of
