Might have had a seizure. I had a GSD that would have seizures after getting excited they hit her later on in life. She would cry like she was in pain and shake.

My experience dictates that she may have a vestibular (inner ear) disorder. I had the same thing occur more than ten (10) years ago with an old female and I presumed that she had a stroke too. I nowadays understand (thanks, Hodie!) that canines do not have strokes.
How do you treat it? I cannot say, because with the old female I had it eventually went away. She was suddenly terrified of everything and could not maintain her balance. The veterinarian at the time was at a complete loss to determine what was wrong with her, and agreed with me that it must be a stroke. So, she was misdiagnosed but everything worked out okay.
My question (if she does indeed have a vestibular disorder) is this; what caused it? Is there an infection of the inner ear or is there swelling caused by a head injury or insect/arachnid sting/bite? I would not rule out a spinal injury as mentioned above. Good luck with a proper diagnosis.
Best Regards,
