Claudia, I am AMAZED that you didn't have people beating down your doors for the Yara puppies!! Half the peole in ths stadium were talking about wanting a puppy "from that bitch." The host club wouldn't go for the "special" trophies like "XX" trophy this year. For next year, I may just go ahead and maybe have a pendant or some other piece of jewelry made as the "XX" award, so I can easily take it with me to the event, whether the club allows such a trial trophy, or not. The winner can wear it, or hang it on the wall. :-) What do you think? Nia

Personally I think that if someone wants to sponsor a trophy and pay for it, then they should be able to  dictate whatever they want the trophy to be awarded for.  High female, high female handler, oldest dog, oldest handler, youngest handler, high owner-bred dog, etc.  All important to those people putting the effort out and making it to that level of competition.  If the host club says "no", ask why - then ask if you can call the trophy company and order it yourself, add it to their trophy line up.   They should allow whatever trophy anyone wants to sponsor, for the good of the sport and rewarding of the competitors..

Molly, how true.  The more awards the better for the hosting club!   No reason the person sponsering can't decide what it's for.

Nia, a piece of jewlery wouid be a nice touch if they won't let you do a trophy.

I like the idea Nia!  Actually until now I didn't know that the "special" trophies were "special" and dictated by the Host club at a National Event.

Beeing proud to be a female and proud to handle one I LOVE the idea of keeping the Double X idea going. A piece of jewelery would sure be something special and something the wear proudly. Awesome idea Nia.

Sadly, I have to cheer from New England while so many of the folks I admire most in the GSD world are there competing. New England has some EXCEPTIONAL competitors this year! I EXPECT phone calls with updates on a regular basis! Lots of pictures too!

Good Luck to the New England competitors! You always do us proud with your tremendous support of each other!

Then, the jewelry is a GO for next year. It is just too late to get it done by Tuesday at this point, but I will definietly have an engraved "XX" pendant or charm foe the 2008 USA Nationals...wherever the heck it is going to be. :-)
