My heart goes out to you  and my tears too....Beautiful, and touching picture of the two of you...You gave him life and that is what counts and he will always be with you.....and waiting ....and your friends on the database are here for you.

Thanks so much everyone.  It helps to be able to come here where others understand the loss of a good friend. 

The picture of Duke is worth a thousand of words.

It left me with tears and I could feel the anguish that you're feeling, even know hes not my dog nor have I ever met him in person.   He was such a good looking animal. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Duke sounds like such a wonderful dog.  I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope you can find some peace at this difficult time. 

If we didn't love so hard we wouldn't hurt so badly.  Your love for Duke and his for you is a bond that transcends our short time here on earth.   Find peace in knowing you made his last years here the best he had.

I am extremely sorry for your loss, I recently went thru the same thing, and so the tears are flowing for you now.  Just know you gave him as much happiness and love as he gave you.  And his life was complete because of you.  You did a good thing to let him go and not make his life hard.  If only we could be so lucky.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.  The best for them is often the hardest for us.  Thank you for doing the best for Duke.

He'll remain your heart dog, that's where he'll reside forever.  I know how hard that decision is and there is never enough time to say goodbye to such a dear friend.  You have my deepest sympathy.

My heart aches for you. Duke sounded like the cream of the crop. How lucky you both were to have found one another. Soulmates are forever and I bet he was yours.
