There is always one in the bunch...contacted the owner of this LC, this dog has very good nerves and not  shy at all among other things, lots of potential, not like other jumping circus dogs around here, don't be afraid to call someone out...

PTR909- sounds like a great schutzhund candidate! Are you looking to purchase him or was it just out of curiosity... if you don't mind me asking?

since when does the standard call for a "bear-like" head and expression?  maybe for an akita, but not for a german shepherd.  It bothers me when people use this expression.

the dog pictured does paint a pretty picture, the dark face and pigment is excellent.  but striving for this color alone is the reason for the weak temperment that is plagueing the showline today.  what else is this dog going to bring to the table?

NO....I am not planning on breeding long stock coats in the future.......I have my hands completely full with the stock coats.
And......not taking any thing OTHER than "looks" from both pictures of these dogs.......I think they both are nice looking male dogs. Both are masculine, both seem to have very nice "hard" coats that seem to lay correct. Both have very nice pigment.
Both look to have good bone strength.
You should be proud of each of them!
Hope they BOTH turn out to be exactly what you want from this breed.
Sincerely,
Robin

PTR
Is your post circus dog refering to mine if so why, the pic you see was him clearing the wall on the training field, and the standing one was a few minutes after he had completed a 20 km run, he sure is no circus dog his joints are A1 and he is a rock steady dog but clever with it, to you he may look soft but you can be assured he is no pussy cat
I have nothing wrong to say about the Dog in Question or the person selling it he is a fine looking Dog and the seller has not replied anything negative on here.
My first reply was to the first two people posting on it and there comments one has explained and it is no big deal and fair enough, but my reply  was not directed at the dog or the owner,
As for my Dog i have had two offers to buy him and turned them down the price was very good but he is not for sale as with my other Pup Izzy, three offers by 14 weeks old all turned down,
So circus dog or not he will get his titles with clean hips and elbows for sure, and as for anyone not being afraid to call another out, you got that bit right if nothing else
A message from the Cicrus dog to you but he means a two fingered salute

Uber- I have to apologise for the way I have worded my post, I was just enphasisng how kind his face was and not comparing him to a teddy bear. I do strongly agree with your 2nd point though, temprement and type are the 2 main factors I'd want to breed into a dog and only concentrate on colour if I found that my lines pigment was fading and becoming more 'wishy washy' and the tan turned to a very pale 'yellow' and was not the deep rich red/brown pigment that the breed should carry.

apologies

well,  the breed isn't supposed to be an unnatural red either.  the gsd comes in many colors, and a rich tan should be judged the same way as a rich red dog. color should be the last thing considered with this breed
