We started out with the APRL products years ago and then switched about four years ago to the Animal Naturals products. We saw a huge difference in the coats, muscle tone and stamina within two weeks. About that same time a distributor gave us a jug of Vertex to try and get us to switch over. We tried it on one test dog and we actually found this dog did not improve when the others continued to do so on the SuperFuel.
SuperFuel is a bodybuilding and energy enhancing formula.
JointStrong is a natural anti-inflammatory which by the way also works for Panosteoitis and soft tissue inflammation.
GoDog is their canine sports drink. It can be used before and after workouts instead of SuperFuel if you want rapid recovery but don't want the weight gain.
There are many distributors for the Animal Naturals products now some popular ones are www.k9power.com, www.an-nat.com (the manufacturer), www.showandsport.com... or just Google the name of the products.

I use Joint Strong for my growing youngsters, SuperFuel for dogs working hard, conditioning for show, and dogs difficult to keep weight on.
I LOVE GoDog for training in hot weather! A couple of my dogs just don't handle heat and humidity well at all. GoDog makes a huge difference to them, both in energy in training and recovery afterwards. I also use the coat conditioning formulas to augment the Canidae for a couple of months prior to event season, as I wasn't pleased with what Canidae alone was producing (dry, dull, brittle) with some of my dogs.
John Sequino is a peach of a guy. I have always been delighted with K9 Power service!

Bob Fritz was the founder and President of APRL. The same Bob Fritz is the founder of the "Animal Naturals"

Even so, we find the newer formulations with AN products to be superior to the APRL products due to continued research anddevelopment. The guy must be doing something right :-)

I agree with Shelley on the Go Dog helping a lot in hot weather, it really makes a difference in how long we can do a drug search in the summer months here, (most patrol stuff in summer here occurs at night- maybe the bad guys aren't as dumb as we thought :)
I also like the Super Fuel for a daily supplement. I have used vertex in the past and not had problems with it but right now it is easier to get the Super Fuel.

I too have tried both products on my dogs. Initially I tried the Superfule but had to use so much to get any result at all. I went off the product when I ran out. I won a bottle of Vertex at a raffle at a schutzhund trial so I gave it a try with a hard keeper that I have. 2 tablespoons per day and I have to say that finally my dog's pigment is improving, he's got new coat coming through and he's acting like he isn't as stiff. I won't say I'm sold but that's my experience with the 2 products. Then I decided to do some research into both products and manufacturers. Seems that both use to be one until they had a falling out. Both were friends actually. An nat seems to be a bigger company now but the Vertex man has a European contract with a major company over there so they must be doing something right. An nat is now in petsmart I see. Don't like that. I hate chain stores. My breeder is a LOYAL Vertex user and a former competitive body builder and in his opinion, Vertex is much better for what he wants to see. Jim Hill is also a distributor and his opinion means a lot to me. Now I see Ray Allen carries Vertex and they have been in this business for a long time. Bob Fritz that owns An nat is a smart cookie when it comes to nutrition and sales but screwed up when he was making Peak2. That product varied so much it isn't funny. That's poor manufacturing practice and product like that should not be on the market. The Vertex guy is also in schutzhund and has been in dog sports for a long time. Don't think the An nat guy is.

I don't want to give the product the kiss of death, but Vertex is the "Breakfast of Champions" . Stacks great with everything from whey to Vitargo-CGL. I buy it by the truckload.

Since I have been feeding raw, I have foregone the "designer" supplements for my dogs. Yes, I think that Vertex and Super Fuel are fine products--but too damned pricey for me. I knew Bob Fritz when he originally began marketing Peak Performance and regularly used his products for many years. It was Bob who first introduced me to Bulgarian Tribulus.
Today, for the maintenance of hydration during warm weather and after working the dogs, I use the Nupro Custom Electrolyte Formula--which can be added to water and/or to food. I buy it in 20 lb pails from JB Wholesale Pet Supply for only about $45.00 per pail. A pail lasts forever.
It contains: potassium chloride, sodium chloride, phosphous chelate, calcium aspartate,, magnesium, aspartate, zinc aspartate, copper aspartate, iron chelate, iodine chelate, selenium chelate, A (beta carotene), C (ascorbic acid), E (DL-alpha tocopheryl, lactobacillus acidophilus--in a dextrose base.
While it may not be superior to the pricier products, it is a damned cost effective alternative and the dogs drink it willingly.
As for myself, I make my own sports drink by mixing Nupro Electrolytes with some green tea or with the cheap, generic form of Crystal Light purchased at Wal Mart. I find it pretty palatable and to have superior ingredients to Gatorade and the like.

I'am currently part owner and a head trainer of a company that specializes in the training and sales of police and search and rescue dogs. We use Vertex and Power chow on every dog on our property(usually between 10-20 dogs) and we all love it. It helps the skinny dogs gain weight, and gives them shinny coats and awsome stamina. We are currently in the process of becoming a dealer for Vertex and other CPN products in our upcoming store.

Anybody see my 7 yr. old Carol ("T") in the Veteran's class in St. Louis? He has been conditioning (moderate road work) for months on Canidae Platinum, K9 Superfuel, with a touch of Peak Glow and an egg 3 times a week, with some pheasant courtesy of my great-white-hunter husband (when he isn't paying attention to the freezer inventory). T will humiliate himself shamelessly begging for pheasant. He's down to 76 lbs., beautiful "bloomy" coat, lots of muscle and more energy than I've ever seen in him. (read: driving me nuts till I work him every day). I use Go Dog before and after workouts with excellent results as T tends to die in hot humid weather. With the Go Dog he doesn't fade on me and recovers quickly even with intense work.
I'd drink it myself but it tastes like shit to me. Ha ha ha.
