Hmmmm...........ProudShepherdPoppa seems awful quiet lately. Aren't those the ones we are suppose to watch out  for?

Triodegirl-I'd love to hear dog to dog conversations. "Geeze, can you believe all that crap was going on right outside and Mom didn't even DO anything?" "Yeah, huh? I figured somebody should do something so I barked. But we both know I couldn't really do anything with that damn window there anyway. I thought she'd get the hint." "I know, the hairless can be so dense. Me, I just decided to get my belly scratched and wait for somebody to call 911." "I think we should pawn her off on some other dog." "Definately."

All said in jest. No offence meant.

I am going to shoot my comcast box if this keeps up LOL

So what's the problem?  He is a watch dog right?  He watched didn't he?  Even if he was upside down getting his belly scratched at the time, he was still watching!  Good Boy!

I had a talk with Trigger last night and told him he is going to have to start sharing his space with a real watch dog whether he likes it or not. Crime has nearly doubled in this area of town in the last 5 years and I need a dog that will at least alert me when something is going on outside.

i would not count him out. I have had a few that could not be bothered, one my Husband thought was Useless. But when they thought push came to shove, they came thru like no other. I have one male that knows I hate the barking in the car, so he tries to teach the otheres to do it for him, if they will, he shuts up and gives me a look like "it is not me, yell at them" if they will not pick up the task for him, he does the job and looks at them with frustration. Very funny.

And triodegirl...

Hows Dana.???  Was she sold  already.???

by triodegirl on 23 September 2007 - 20:09

Marci, Dana sold right away, within a few days of placing the ad. The lady seemed pretty happy with her. She didn't think Dana was all that small but after meeting Trigger could understand why I thought Dana was small, at least in comparison.

In defense of Trigger, I do tell him not to bark, especially early in the morning. I have a nut-job neighbor that screams at him even if he barks just a few times. Trigger can go a whole day without barking and this guy will holler even if he hears a woof or two. Trigger will look at me with such a strange expression on his face, almost as if to ask, "WTF is wrong with this nut-job? I only barked once today and I had to because there was a terrorist squirrel running across the top of my fence!!!"

trio- I guess I don't understand your concern with Trigger. My best dogs are quiet, wait, and watch ........they are confident and in control of the situation if one arises. If they got wound up with every commotion on the street then I would be worried and not trust them as much. To me that would be a sign of insecurity, or maybe immaturity. Trigger's behavior at this point wouldn't worry me.
