4pack

I dunno that I would put a 10 minute time limit on it. Every pup gets tired at a different rate. I can't even put a number on how many times a day we would work Baden from 9 weeks when we got him, till now. I would say probably on average 5 times a day for 5minutes +or - depending on him. If he didn't re grip or work like we liked, he got put up and we try again later.

I can't see damage to baby or adult teeth happening on a healthy pup or dog. We aren't using metal pipes to bite, jute, soft leather and burlap is the norm. Unless you are yanking your pup, swinging him around or the like, what would cause the damage? I have NEVER had a dog with bad teeth EVER! Pups chew, pups bite, they all do it , even the non working breeds. Chewing on those sore gums feels good and help loosen the puppy teeth.

We even go so far as to have the pup retrieve odd items such as a metal food dish, keys, tin can, plastic bottles, whatever we can think some dogs don't like to have in their mouths. It's part of our way of training for later things. Much easier to have them OK with strange objects from the get go, than to force retrieve as an adult. This probably isn't necessary for Sch sport, as they only use the dumb bells. Our dogs on the other hand, have to retrieve anything and everything. Still doing this we have no teeth issues.

This is my experience and reasoning.

I lost my mop to a nine week old pup today    He wouldnt turn loose for love or money....10 mins I waited and pulled and it was as if he had locked jaws...I sold a pup years ago , a female , to the sheriff dept. for narc training , and she would hand on to the mop or broom and you could yell, scream, pat, hit, use other tools. and she wouldnt turn loose, until she was good and ready...]Today I tried to pry the jaws apart on this male,,and I was afraid I was gonna break its teeth...or hurt the dog   so I just stood waiting, talking , and patting and asking   please give me back my mop......!!!!!!!! and when he finally let go,,,I had to stand it upside down to keep him from getting it......I couldnt even mop nor would he let me do poop duty today.....the rake was his.....

Figures as much.,....got a little Tiekerhook in him..................imagine that......10 times a day   aat 5 mins each    he already had his quota today...

Echo:  How about this:  You and I shall agree to disagree on this topic.   Lets try to be civil to one another and let sleeping dogs lie.

Yellowrose:  That's a funny story.  A little Tiekerhook is like a lot of aligator!
