What I worry about the Vick case is if it does go to trial. We could have another O J jury that sets him free.
Spook brought up an excellant point, GAMBLING. The betting on the dog fights. I can't see this going anyway other way than Vick pleading guilty considering banishment from football would be the penalty if convicted.
Don C. is correct in that the NFL has finally taken a firm stand against the thugs.
I think he'll plead, but will get less than what he deserves, the alternative is a jury trial and anything is possible there. If he does come back to football I hope he gets booed out of every stadium. We should know by this weekend as I believe he only has until Friday to plead, otherwise additional charges and a jury trial.

If there's a humorous side to all of this, I think I just found it.

I really don't think he was that great of a player! I hope the falcons don't ever allow him to play for them! I don't see how any team could allow him to play with them!

Spook
The two other players I mentioned are pro-bowl players. They probably would have more probowl appearances than Vick if they could stay out of court.

Don, PLEASE, you're not only trying to insult my intelligence, you're doing yourself a great disservice.
Tank Johnson stood to lose $510,000 per year.
Pacman Jones $1,292,500 per year.
Michael Vick could lose approximately $59,000,000 in salary and another $20-30,000,000 in bonuses. He averages about $13,000,000 per year.
I don't care if the other two chumps go to the Super Bowl every year, YOU"RE TALKING APPLES AND ORANGES.

You asked "star quality, impact players?" If a pro-bowl player isn't a star, impact player than maybe the Detroit Lions should go out and sign 22 QBs and start them all over the field. Maybe they could win more than 3 games a year.
I understand there is a difference in pay. There always is when you talk about QBs vs Role Players. I am just trying to explain to the people that don't follow the NFL, that they are at least going in the right direction.
You brought up Oklahoma as a school with thugs. Seems to me they were without a QB because the kid got kicked off for violations. Notre Dame kicked a good basketball player off their team for possession of marijuana. This month a player from ND was arrested for propositioning a prostitute. He will not go unpunished. I agree that scumbags like Urban Meyer and the University of Fla. turn their head the other way. Maybe the NCAA should step in like the NFL commissioner and stop the thuggery.

Paterno seems to do a decent job with his players. I don't know that he puts up with a lot of crap from any of them.

It's not like Goodell suspended a 3rd sting Offensive Guard or someone from the practice squad. These were high visibility and coveted players by their respective teams. One was the starting DT for a super bowl team, and the other was a pro bowler and a up and coming "star" in the NFL till his off field antics kind of derailed that.
There aren't many players at all that get the hype Vick does, but I don't see how that is relevant here. These weren't just low on the totem pole scapegoats the NFL decided to make an example out of.

please don't insult his intelligence.

There is a big difference between a line man, who in most cases can be adequately (notice the word ADEQUATELY) replaced off the taxi squad or by a rookie and a player of the impact of a Michael Vick, (considered to be a PREMIERE quarterback) whose loss will probably guarentee a reversal of fortunes for his team. In other words, a losing season.
Don, do you understand the NFL well enough to explain it to others?
