Thats interesting, my daughter will probably have her first very own dog in the next year, and very much wants to do schutzhund. She put a CD on a dog she trained herself when she was nine years old (yes, she's a very gifted handler/trainer, got high 190s and placed all legs, her first 3 tries), she's 11 now. She's doing some junior showmanship with my Rikkor daughter, but I don't think its interesting enough for her. I want to get her involved, keep her busy through the teenage years and out of trouble.

KCzaja- That's wonderful. Yes I agree to keep them busy. I have 3 girls- she's the oldest and is the one who is the most involved in a lot of different things. She was never the "play dolls" type like my middle one. lol My oldest is very athletic and competitive. She's a cheerleader since Kindergarten and she also competes with a team outside of school. Summer is softball season; winter she plays basketball and she takes hip hop and acrobatics one day a week Sept- May. I don't know who I'm keeping busier...her or me. lol I attend everything she's involved with and now my middle one has begun her own interests as well so it makes for an interesting time multitasking. lol
The oldest is a lot like me when I was a kid. I always loved animals and my grandparents always had 3-4 dogs. My mom never liked dogs in the house so my dogs were always living at gram ma's house. lol I think it's great for kids to grow up with dogs. We'll see how things go with her. I'd rather her discover a love for dogs than BOYS!
