is anyones dog related to my dog? - Page 2

so no one so far has heard of any of the dogs on his pedigree?  i did find this site, the dog on the top lft pic...zeebee..is my pups grandmother on his mothers side...she looks like a giant dog..espc for a female..has anyone heard of this kennel?PERLE KENNEL

A bit further back on the father's side,  I recognize some of those dogs.   Troll......Fero......Mink.    You will see alot of dogs out there who have those dogs in their pedigrees some generations back or closer.  If you click onto their links you can see their progeny and see what I am talking about.  For example Troll's brother is my older bitch's great great grandfather. 

I don't recognize anything on the mother's line though. 

I'm not on the up and up with DDR lines but since no one is answering...your boy has DDR blood in him but he is only maybe 1/2, at best guess. With allot of the info missing hard to say. As Rezkat said he does have West German Working lines in him and very good working dogs they are. Your boy is very handsome and hopefully he will have enough drive in him to do well in Sch. TO me he looks like he would be a fun dog to have and train.

thnks a bunch yall, more info than i had..but im still wondering what DDR actually means..id feel real stupid if someone ask if my dog is DDR and i say well he's half..and not even know what im talking about..

DDR is an abbreviation and stands for Deutsche Demokratische Republik, translated into German Democratic Republic (GDR). The GDR ceased to exist  when the wall came down on November 9, 1989. Fanciers of the East German lines like to refer to the descendants of these dogs as "DDR dogs".

ohhh...i get it..kinda,..it just refers to what part of germany the line comes from huh? apparently he has east and west--wich is better? or does it matter? i am almost positive he has noo american...the breeders were very specific with the message  to me that he was a german german shepherd and to keep his line pure do not breed him with american...at the time i didn't really know what they meant.. i always thought a german shepherd was a german shepherd...well..

People will go round and round about which is best. It's all just preference. If you don't mind waiting until your dog is 5 to know what you have, DDR is good. LOL just a stab. They are known to take much longer to mature. For Schutzhund and dog sport in general, you will find allot more people like WG lines better. I have heard some DDR dogs do not have the prey to make it sometimes. Personally I have no idea as I have never owned anything with DDR blood in it.

i would say he has high prey drive, if you can base it on chasing balls-toys-laser lights(goes absolutly nuts for a laser light--gotta do that outside r he will tear the house apart!) i don't know if it counts but he chases my little rat terrier daisy all day long...they'll lap a tree-the yard-the house- round and round fast as they can run..as long as shes running ..he's chasing--seems to be his favorite thing to do, he also stalks her like a cat which is funny to watch, she'll just be in her own little world sniffing around the yard and then here comes boss crouching low like a tiger then he... pounces..lol..i really need to record that on video...

so...if a DDR dog is not a show dog, and they are not the greatest for schutzhund...then what are they considered to be best at?

my boy is crazy for a laser pointer too!  will bark to get us to break the thing out!  think he has us trained well.  however, i do have to say that he has my husband trained better than i do.
