I have to comment here, My dogs are strong DDR ,Flex V Blauen Modenesser, crossed with Karly Arminius,Vilma  von der Wienerau, Fleischerheim, Wildsteigerland`, etc., My dogs are straight back, VERY HIGH ENERGY dogs, My pups are beautiful. I sell my pups with a 100% temperment guarantee. They are full of Color, depending who  I breed who to, I have solid blacks, saddle backs, black and tan and sables. Every one has personality plus. I myself have no schutzhund titles on my dogs, but their pedigrees state EVERY ONE has the potential to get a title. I have NO doubt, any intruder into my yard "would find my dogs bitework,, to be quite impressive.

I can find quite a few of the dogs in my dogs pedigrees, on this database, either as  top stud dogs or seiger winners. I beleive I have some wonderful lines, but at the same time am looking for ways to IMPROVE. I have one 6 month solid black female now that I am having a hard time finding anyone to deal with her. She IS VERY HIGH DRIVE, does not quit, she is a lover and protector. She is Show line , and DDR, I sold her, but bought her back as a misundersood girl. Would love to find her a High Energy family. She could stay with me, but that sort of defeats who she is.

Anyway, I too am trying to maintain and IMPROVE the lines I have(if that's possible), and, as far as Dora goes, If anyone knows of a young girl interested in getting started with a wonderful girl, with great lines, let me know. I have a dog for you!!!

I have a show line male of the old bloodlines. Decent structure and the old dark pigment of Marko and the other dark show dogs. www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/121549.html

He has the very high drives of the some of the dogs in his past and he carries the solid black recessive. He has been bred to working and show with good results. Some turned out better than others.  I have a female and a male out of him that are showing much promise. The female is out of a working line mother and the male is out of current WG show lines. They both are staying darker than the average show dog. To me it will be really interesting to show and work the the male as he has the structure of a show dog, but the color of a working dog.  The female will be 3 soon and has very nice work. The male is just a pup and has a long way to go, but shows much promise.

The reason I am writing this is that I love this dog and his lines and have long felt that these lines have been lost and to the shame of the breeders of that time period. I think that these lines could have held the work and drive that is so needed in show lines today.  It would be great to see if others out there have some of these lines too?

Gimme10,

I believe to keep the breed vigorous that we should avoid too much tight inbreeding, but crossing show and working lines is perhaps not necessary.  There are a lot of good dogs out there.  Certainly not a lot of GREAT dogs, but that is another matter.

As far as DDR lines being "aggressive" as you say, I cannot agree with you on that point.  It is always hazardous to make generalizations, and yet stereotypes persist.  I believe it would be more correct to say that DDR lines are perhaps more "civil" than other bloodlines, but I would not classify that as "aggressive" in the sense that DDR dogs are not safe and reliable companions.  My own dog is DDR/Czech which is classic "civil" stereotype, however, he is very social and completely safe around casual strangers.  He is, in fact, very friendly to people who do not present a hostile attitude.

As to the article by Fred Lanting, I will have to search for that.  I found it as a link on another web site, another GSD breeder if memory serves me right.  I'll have to do some hunting.
