There are GREAT dogs in each catergory, what you want is a dog that is great for the purpose you want. I agree with Echo and go visit if you can and get a chance to see different styles of dogs and interact with them. Keeping in mind what YOU do personally with a puppy in terms of training and socialization can make or break it for you too."

I think it would be hard to tell you what line from what country as it usually the blended lines that pool the genes for temperaments that go good in family life, and how yu start he pup at 5 -6 weeks old.and socialize and train the dog is the key....and no , you wouldnt buy from a known kennel that raises gsd's for bitework and protection and advertise their dogs to be high drive working lines, only for that.....
