Don Corleone

I just switched over to Solid Gold-Wolf cub for the pup and Solid Gold-Wolf King for my two older dogs.  So far I'm having what many of you have described.  The dogs look great and always have, but if the puddles don't turn into rocks, I'm going to have to switch back.

Solid Gold Wolf Cub and King are bison and salmon.  You can find these in any major dog/pet store.

I know this is going to bite me on the butt as soon as I say it but my dogs don't seem to have loose stool hardly ever. They are on a mainly RAW diet and I hear things said about it too cause mud pies. Then sometime they get some Canidae or California Natural chicken & rice formulars for both dry foods and still OK. My sons dog eats more dog food than fresh or RAW, her stool seems fine. If he happens to be at a friends house late with his dog he will offer her some of whatever his friends dogs eat ( I am pretty sure bottom shelf at the grocery store brand) and she is still alright in the poop department. I hope Murphy didn't see me write this!

Whatever works for you all but you should try and stay as far away from those dog foods that have corn listed as the first (and main) ingredient...Again, too each their own but there are some real good premium dog foods out there...Timber Wolf Organics is quality but at a high price with what I consider too high a protein content...But that is me, I find Chicken Soup to be a nice median...One word of advise to all of you; stay away from Natural balance, too expensive and not as good as they claim...Talk about the runs...

For me its more about the needs of the dogs than the money or the distance I need to travel to get what I feel is best, thats just me...I do drive 20+ miles to get my dogs the food i want them to have, so what if I make a 1/2 hr drive each way 2 times a month, my wife looks forward to those Saturdays when I make the trip...

I feed raw and have not had a stool or coat problem since. All my last litter were on raw and still are and have NEVER seen loose stools yet!!!! I cannot believe I actually fed commercial dog foods. The only food I had similar results with was Innova EVO, but still had loose stools on occasion.

The two we feed are Canine Caviar and Natural Balance Duck and Potato. The Caninie Caviar is mostly the lamb and pearl millet though the pregnant one gets some of the venison and split pea mixed in for higher protien right now.  In general we don't have clean up issues.  One male at times and we think it may be our water so we're going to be bringing his water in from somewhere else.

All the dogs are healthy with shiney coats.  And Big white teeth.

I feed my dog Innova EVO Reduced Fat.  Less fat, more protein - 52%, the highest protein content I've seen in kibble.  I've tried both the red meat and the chicken/turkey versions and saw no difference so I use the chicken/turkey blend which requires a slightly less ungodly chunck of change to buy.

If you're having problems with loose stools, and the RF version of EVO is available in your area, give it a shot.

Ultimately there is no "one size fits all" diet for dogs.  Do the best you can with what you can reasonably obtain.

Was going to go with Timberwolf but they wouldn't tell me who manufactured it.  I found out Chenago valley foods does and they are involved in multiple recalls.

So went with Urban Wolf out of Canada couldn't be happier www.urbanwolf.ca.  Just add meat and fish oil all natural it's basically a BARF diet with little or no risk involved.   My pups coat is so shinny  everybody asks me what are you feeding him even my vet.

If you are feeding Timberwolf or any kibble make sure you know who manufactuers it and who buys the ingrediants and by all means who does the quality control also know there is a level of risk involved in any kibble you buy just because of the way it's manufactured.

I had someone on another forum ask me what level of risk are you willing to take feeding your dog my answer was zero none.

So I have set up my dogs diet in a manner in that I know who owns the company manufactures the product purchases the ingrediants and who does the quality control

In todays envirement these are questions you have to know the answers to!!   Your dogs life is at stake!!  Dogs are still dieing every day from the food we feed them.

There is a report out that everyone who feeds commerical kibble to their dogs should read.   It's called   What's really in dog food.

You can find this report at  www.api4animals.org   After reading this report ask yourself how safe is the kibble that I'm feeding my dog's?

It really opened up my eyes real quick.
