You want to put her on a food that has the least amount of protein, so her kidneys do not have to work so hard. You want the fluids to get the kidneys flushed out. You can contact the FDA and they will take the report, but will not send anyone out, unless you have the food. I can not remember if you have to have the bag also.

And yes it does depend on how far the degree of damage is.  you can sometimes turn it around and it will be manageable  (sp?) by fluids at home.  or alot of times starting with a few days on Iv fluids is a good start and then fluids at home and feeding a kidney diet.  you usually know in a couple of days if the treatment is working by rechecking the blood levels.  what was her BUN/CREATINE/PHOSPORUS levels?  it's not always a total lost cause.

Is your dog on advantix, I have heard of 3 dogs with kidney and liver issues on this and the vet stated on the 3 this was the reason.

1 doggie~ we did this today. She got 100cc's and we brought her home rather than leave her. She is eatting some Merrik canned now, so that is good. She was eatting Diamond Naturals Chicken/rice. 2 other dogs are also on this but they have been healthier than her and are not showing problems. We are xing the food as a precautionary measure. Not positive that is the problem but I am not going to take the chance.

The vet said she could last a couple weeks or a couple months. Depends on her drinking and eating. I didn't personaly speak to the vet when they called. I will inquire further on the results. She is on Frontline not Advantix.

Did you take some fluids to give at home?

100 CC is not a whole lot of fluids for a big dog.  That's more like a cat dose.

Also I still have about 120#s of this food I just didn't keep the bags. I can send whatever amount they need in for testing, that's not a problem.

No they didn't give us fluids to take home. Thankfully she is eating a drinking normally tonight.

That's good that she's eating and drinking normally for you tonight.  The fluids probably helped to perk her up a bit.  Maybe she's just in early stages of renal failure and she can be maintained at home for a while.
