It is known that our military uses alot of Peanut Butter in MRE's.  Perhaps Brittany's statment has some merit to it, who knows?

The reason people are still getting sick from the salmonella contaminated PB is that the PB was worked into other products such as frostings, cookies, toppings, salad dressings, etc. Locating all the batches which contain this particular PB is proving to be very difficult.

The toothpaste is not contaminated with melamine, as someone said, but with diethylene glycol, which is antifreeze. We are cautioned to dispose of it so that our pets can't access it, and also to check whether toothpaste we use on our pets may have been made in China. If so, discard it immediately.

For excellent, current information on these issues I would urge you to visit the following two Websites:

http://petconnection.com/blog/

http://www.itchmo.com/

The information there is updated daily, sometimes several times per day, and is far more forthcoming than what the FDA puts out. Itchmo published a list of toothpaste brands which are poisoned with DEG, as follows:

The following brands have been identified:

  • Cooldent Fluoride
  • Cooldent Spearmint
  • Cooldent ICE
  • Dr. Cool, Everfresh Toothpaste
  • Superdent Toothpaste
  • Clean Rite Toothpaste
  • Oralmax Extreme
  • Oral Bright Fresh Spearmint Flavor
  • Bright Max Peppermint Flavor
  • ShiR Fresh Mint Fluoride Paste

These brands are sold at deep discount retail outlets, the kind of places that sell off-brand labeled products.

It's the job of the FDA to enforce their exisiting rules and penalize countries that sell us food stuffs and other merchandise that does not conform to our standard of quality. China has no such standards. So far within the last year we have discovered dog hair being used for trim on garments, the dog food contamination and now toothpaste, all from products either manufactured or processed in China.  Maybe it's time to start reading labels.

The problem with reading the labels, is a part of it, or an ingreadient may be from china, but packaged in USA. They then get to say made in USA>

Back on my soapbox.  Contact your politicians and depamd implementaion of Country Of Origan Labeling (COOL) for all products.  The large producers and packers keep hanging it up and delaying full implemenation.
