My dogs will retreive anything on comand, comes in handy in the winter when I'm snug under a blanket and cant reach the remote. I also have recurring back problems, and they will stand and stay to brace me sometimes when I stand up. I twisted my ankle once and my Rikkor daughter braced me all the way to the house.

I had one where you could have a 15 minutes in the store and that was it. He would then sit on the horn until you came out.

My Mom really went overboard for one G. Dane we had. (he saved me from being stolen out of the front yard, after that he was treated like a king) He ate at the table with us and had whatever we were having, slept with my parents.

My Mom was having a Dinner party, the crystal and silver type. He had a place setting with no silverware or chair at the table. You should have seen their faces when he came to the table to eat!

WOW ! What great stories! OK this is mine. Some years back we had a bear problem in the county. It was said there was a shortage of berries so bears were in town into apple trees, everywhere into peoples garbage cans etc. Never in 30 years were bear sitings so numerous. We live in the country and have alot of lumbermill land behind out house where I walk my dogs everyday. One day as we just got to our fenceline Abby went woof, woof in a sheepish kinda way. Well I would have to, next I saw on the other side of  a rail fence the biggest dam bear I have ever seen strolling along. Now the other 4 dogs saw him too! They took after him like a true pack, but my one favorite female stayed with me, not exactly sure if she was smarter or a game plan! This bear was not scared of the 5 dogs that were barking and creating a true Kodak moment and me w/o a camera! I was of course "holding my ground" but not advancing and sceaming at the top of my lungs for them to come back, but to no avail! The bear was moving off away from me but he didn't act the least bit threatened. The dogs were darting in and out at him. My male took a cheap shot and bit him in the butt, he did the most impressive roll back with paw out swinging. The dogs just moved out but never quit with their constant barking and darting in and out. He  now moved going up the mountain and once again Tell nailed him, he turned and charged, branches on the ground were popping and snapping and I was thinking of heading for the house!!! He turned again and headed up the hill, the dogs went a bit more then stopped and watched him a second and came running back. I am not sure but always liked to think they were just getting him away from me the best way they could.

Okay, my Zorba used to do something really weird with knuckle bones.  After he had gnawed on them for a while he would slowly get up while holding it, looking at me as if to see if I was watching, slink over to the corner of the patio, stick the bone in the corner, push the ground with his nose (as if he were burying it in pretend dirt), glance back at me as if to see if I was looking, if he caught me looking at him, he would pick the bone back up & slink away to another part of the yard, if he didn't catch my eye, he would walk away & leave the bone!  He did this a lot, & always with real slow exagerated movements.  I didn't  have a movie camera and so I never caught it on tape, but I swear I'm not making this up!
