As a breeder if I where selling you a puppy I would be concerned slightly about your situation. You stated your dogs are bossy and the one was even aggressive toward other animals. Are you confident your dogs would welcome a puppy or are you vigilant enough to ensure the puppy wont have negative experiences in his own home with your other dogs? Also you stated an hour of exercise a day and a long hike on the weekends but never mentioned socialization. If you want a dog to be confident in any enviroment and to read people well then you need to have the puppy in social situations around different people and in different environments often. Finding the right puppy should not be too difficult with a little patience as there are many very good breeders with very nice lines. Raising that puppy right is also a very important factor of how the dog matures and what he becomes.
I would be very wary of anyone who tells you their puppy well be all the things you want in a dog regardless of how you raise him.

crimsonribbon,
I can tell you I had a very good experience with Kraftwerk kennels. They have raised their prices compared to what I paid. I ordered my male off the internet without going there, and that is the first time I ever did that. I told Wayne what I wanted and that is exactly what I received. My male came to me at 8 weeks old, and had to transfer onto 2 different planes by the time I got him. When I went there to pick him up, he came out of the crate acting like he owned the airport and wanted to play. He walked right to my truck like no big deal. Wayne gave me just what I wanted and more!! That is my experience with purchasing a pup from Kraftwerk.

To be totally honest, I would be concerned if I were selling a puppy to me too. Having three dogs is like having a pack, and I know that socialization is so important. I've seen many many dogs at the kennel that have issues because the owners didn't take the time to do this. Wierd issues. Dogs that act like they've never been outside before or seen anyone other than their owners in their life. That's part of the reason I want a puppy-- to expose him to as many different things as I can think of, especially kids and other animals.
When I got my shelter dog, she would lunge on the leash and act aggressive toward other dogs. She would also chase cats. This was the first dog I had ever owned, so it took a little bit but now she can be in crowds of dogs and be perfectly well behaved (taking her to work at the kennel and to dog parks where she could be off leash really helped). She's friendly unless another dog tries to jump on top of her or take her food. I know adding a puppy would mean a lot of work and vigilance on my part. But I know if I can get my dog to the point where the cat can approach her and head-butt her when I tell her to stay and "be nice", she's fine.
