spernna, just another thought. This is an issue that will pop up, regardless of the care one takes in breeding. The instance of 1 pup showing up in a breeding would not be enough for me to eliminate a dog from breeding, provided they were certified.

Multiple puppies or practically whole litters and you would obviously have a problem.

Had a friend with a dog with UAP.  Somtimes exhibited lameness and had surgery.  Still going strong years later with no problems.  Of course, neutered.
