That last handler in the video should have got his dog a little faster. He just looked around then when he got to the dog he grabbed his leg, then he push the dog over and made him walk on it again. Just wondering shouldnt he had picked the dog up to try and keep him from futhering his injuries. Maybe im wrong but thats what i would have done.  This was a horrible video. I hope no one see this and thinks this is what the sport is really like.

Blitzen, even worst, their like German Roaches!! Once you have them infest, you can never get rid of them!!! I used to work in Pest Control, I would take rats over German Roaches anyday!!!

That's a real heartbreaker.  It always stinks to see any dog doing their job (especially when they love it so) get injured that badly.

You can bet the PETA Roaches (I like that Dennis) cruise these dog boards looking for stuff just like this so I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop up all over the web.

I don't know the link, but I saw all 4 of the dogs that had leg injuries.  What B.S.!   How can you have piss poor helpers at a world event?  I cant even imagine how poor the helper tryouts looked.

One dog is an honest accident, but 8 injured dogs is rediculous.  That guy couldn't catch a cold!

The one amazing thing I took out of this is the amazing pain tolerance those malis had.  Even with broken legs and serious injuries, they held the bite until outed.

I hate seeing this video, It could be my dog out there!!! "BUT" the unfortunate truth is, everytime we go out on the field at a trial something bad could happen.. All this shows me is that at National & World Events where the helpers work 100+ powerful, high speed performance dogs, we need to make sure only the best sleeve up!!!

The only question I have for you guys is, have any of you ever held a World Event?

Unsure if cancellation is even possible when you have 12+ Countries with teams competeing..... I think it is like a horrible car crash in nascar, the show must go on!!

Has there ever been a World Trial or a SS Cancelled once it has started???

I've never heard of one being cancelled, but surely they could have switched out helpers -

Well I take that back - the FCI Worlds in France were cancelled, not after it started, but after all teams/competitors were there, practicing, stadium times, up until draw night - they cancelled it - I know because I was on that USA FCI Team.  26 countries, 5 competitors per country - many countries as far away as US, Japan, Australia - had to pick up and go home.  So yes, it definately can happen.

what was the reason behide that Molly?

"Rabies scare" - apparently there had been a rabid dog "in the area" - ie in the country - not near where the trial was being held - and they hadn't finished finding all dogs/people that the rabid dog might have come in contact with.  So the French Government called off the trial.  But the problem was - they only did this AFTER all of the 26 countries, 5 competitors (dogs) per country were ALREADY THERE.  Each one with full packet of health papers required to enter the country in the first place - including rabies titers and current vaccinations.  But, no talking to the government - the competitors were there, all over the place, in every hotel, in every tracking field, at the stadium for the week before the trial - found out at draw night it had been cancelled - bye-bye.  Then, though many competitors from other closer-by European countries drove home - many were stuck there pending flights arranged for days later - we stayed for several more days - so it was so stupid.  Dogs were there anyway.  But, how it went.
