You know, the puppies pretty much rotate themselves. There is NEVER a time when all 11 are hungry at once. I am kind of supplementing Dingbat, though. I don't know about that puppy; I'll try to help her out, but I ain't counting my puppies before they are hatched. NO WAIT, that's exactly what I did when I though there were five!
So...she's getting many eyedroppers of Puppy Gold per day. Hopefully that will kick start her. She is not really good at hanging on to the nipple. DEFINITELY a spay puppy, assuming she makes it that far.

Oh I'm so pleased with your puppies! And also with your name selection. I laughed out loud when I saw Casey Jones, because our current pup is called Casey (I'm Irish and love the name), but when I'm cross with him I find myself saying CASEY JONES! in a stern tone. It works a treat. He instanty stops his nonsense and if he's been really bad (e.g. stolen something from the kitchen) he runs off to his bed before I've finished saying Jones. Hope you're getting some sleep.

I had a little Dingbat too in my litter years ago. Ended up putting it down before week 4 if I remember correctly. Mom kept dragging it outside and trying to bury it in a corner of the yard. The pup was big and healthy, no signs of ill health at birth but soon faded and just failed to thrive. Maybe a heart issue or something else internal. I didn't want to see it starve slowly so we put it down. I did what you did, helped it out some but I refused to bottle feed it fully. Sometimes a boost will help, in my case it didn't. I hope you have better luck with yours.

sub q fluids can make a big difference in a puny one, I had one that these was just nothing to her I did fluids for a few days and it turned her around now shes huge and a big pain

OK, the puppy is in the vet's office being reconstituted. Vet says heart and lungs are fine, thinks she just got hypoglycemic from missing a meal or two on day one, and that she's gone into a hypoglycemic downspin ever since. We shall see after a few hours. I think she's going to have to be separated from the flock for a few days if they leave the IV shunt (?) in her.

I think you will see a big turn around,I would not take her away from the mother though. ask them if you can have some fluids to give over the weekend at home

Incidentally, Dingbat's name is now officially Casey Jones in my vet records.
So far she is doing ok. I think she will make it; her lungs, heart, kidneys, and pooper are all functioning. I have to feed her every two hours, sometimes at the real boob and sometimes with a bottle...which is helpful for monitoring exactly how much she's taking in. Little trooper is really doing ok. She is going to be extremely spoiled. All this getting up in the night is rough given how sick I've been, but YAY! a friend is staying for a few days and doesn't mind getting up for alternate feedings! I feel very lucky.
