Pod i can't help but notice your obsession with the back, it's becoming a bit boring.  The breed standard is a description of the PERFECT dog, we have typical dogs. The PERFECT example has yet to be bred, and probably never will, it would be impossible to maintain. Zamp and quite a few others are close mind you. liz

pod: who the hell are you to state there is something drastically wrong with the German SV interpretation of their own breed standard. Go away and take your medicine.

Liz, the back and the topline of the modern day dogs is where they deviate most drastically from the standard.  Do you believe that dogs like Zamp actually have a croup angle of 23 degrees or thereabouts?

David, does it really matter who I am?  Is not what I say more important?

LOL, pod... you've slipped from the back to the croup!

Pod -  Of all the croups in all the world and you had to pick that one ?!?  Choosing to come here and critisise Zamps croup
has lost you any shread of credibility I might feasibly have previously given you.

I suggest you take a look at the photo of him displaying his long ,well moulded, well angled croup shown on this database
and if you still cant see a good one,  then suggest you need to buy a new pair of spectacles.

Regards
Sue B

Ps -In the past I have always been an advocate of a United Breed and trying to bring both sides together, believing that we
all love the same breed and to that aim should try to get along, but after all the venimous, malicious and unfounded crap
that was spouted by the Alsatianists about Zamp after his appearance at Crufts 2008 (obviously all because they were shit
scared that he might come over more often and steal their thunder under some of their so called 'middle of the road'
judges who also admired him) , I now realise the split would be the best thing for all. God Forbid that some of these
morons might some day get the luxury of using one of his descendants in the future no matter how diluted, what a travesty
of justice,  what a sacrisanct that would be. Split now so they never get the chance.

LOL Sue, get it off your chest!

The GERMAN SV is quite rightly the custodian of our breed"THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG"
At the annualGerman Sieger Show, the largest single breed SHOW in the World, the SV National Breed Warden, determines the interpretation of OUR BREEDS STANDARD in practical and VISUAL terms, FOR THE WORLD TO SEE. Anyone else's opinion that DIFFERS from that interpretation is WRONG.

ABOUT TIME............so tell my what it the KC doing, and why?

could they be stepping out of their bounds?

i personally would like to see GSD's with a bit less angulation, seems like its gone too far.

interesting that Max believed in back yard breeders and not huge kennels. getting poo pooes for have just a few very well bred certified dogs is not a bad thing. lets hear it for the little guy.

Sue B, do you know  how to assess the croup angle.... take a look here -
http://www.gsdfederation.co.za/articles/rugamer.htm

Zamp, his croup angle in this photo is ~39 degrees
