I was being facetious regarding the entire thread having been some sort of 'scam', because really, who ever heard of someone trying to 'scam' other people out of what, advice? Suggestions? That would have to be one of the most pointless scams ever.
I've no doubt that Gautam has been sincere about this from the beginning, and from the start there's always been the possibility that Mervin might not make it through whatever it is that has caused him such a rapid decline in condition--even if the reason was the exhaustion of financial resources instead of medical resources. I will never disparage or condemn anyone who has to make the decision to euthanize their ailing pet because they can't extend their expenses any further; as the saying goes, 'there, but for the grace of God, go I".
I still hold out hope that Gautam will be updating us all soon, be that update happy or sad.

It's sometimes difficult to 'read' different emotions or intentions in the written word, without emoticons! Some cultures don't even 'do' facetious.
I feel very saddened by the lack of contact because it leads me to think that there can only have been a bad outcome for Mervin.
I hope that Gautam realises that we are all genuinely concerned, despite some of the wordplay, and would like to know what has happened to Mervin whether it is good or bad. It may also be helpful to someone with the same problem in the future.

Oh my goodness, Gautam, how awful for you! Glad you are home again, and just as glad to learn that our fears as to why you'd gone 'missing in action' were unrealized! Looking forward to seeing how your boy's looking, and hearing about what finally got him back on track as far as treatments or feeding or both. Wonderful news!!

I did not do anything great. Just gave 2 cups of Royal Canin GSD Adut in the morning and 2 Cups in the evening with some water. Added 5 ml salmon oil for the evening. Maintained good hygiene in the kennel and supplied fresh water 24 x 7. Took him for short walk in the evening and plenty of sleep to recover from illness. Now I am happy for him. I dont care whether he is east-west or his hind legs are not perfect. For me he has survived and that is enough...

He is recovering at a slow and steady pace. Skin infection has clinically disappeared. The coat is shiny and still growing. I am brushing him daily. But just keeping him in a cool and dry place with water and plenty of sleep. He has a sparkle in his eyes!!

Gautam
Well, what a surprise! We never thought something might have happened to you instead! Glad to hear you are OK.
Maybe you can pick up the story where you left off? Last we heard, blood in the stools, he was being put on buttermilk, and then going on to a bland diet........Is he still on Creon, or not?
What does he weigh now?
Can't wait to see some photographs.

Hi Gautam
I think I mentioned before that I thought the amount of cups you were feeding Mervin was a bit on the low side.
Previously you had said you were feeding him Royal Canin Junior 30. The feeding recommendations for Royal Canin Junion, are the amount fed should be based on adult target weight. If his adult target weight is anticipated to be 35kg he should be on 5 1/3 cups a day, not 4. and if his target is 40kg it should be 5 3/4 cups per day. Bearing in mind he is also starting from an underweight position he needs more to gain weight in any case. I wonder if you have misread the guidelines and based his food on his actual weight? Now he seems to be digesting his food, perhaps this will help.
But you have now changed him to adult? The requirements for an adult are different to those of a puppy. Nutrition is obviously very, very important to a growing puppy, and even more so in Mervin's case.
