duke, I know ofa isn't good enough for you!  Whatever, this isn't about my dogs anyway.

Quote:  I feel somwhat isolated where I live since the closest club is 2.5 hours away.

That is how it is here. I have seen several polls, and 2 hours is the average. Sure you want to stay here ? : )

And NO, I would not be the one to point out a stud dog for you. I just do what I want to do. I would not presume to tell someone else who to breed to.

HOWEVER, I could tell you who NOT ! to breed to. : )

Yeah. I will be here. Not much choice anymore so I will make my dogsport hobby work here with lots of miles on my car. I have a lot of learning to do with how things function here (club wise). I also need to commit to a training club. As far as breeding...I will probably consult with my old club back home that is a ways off though.

tons of competitors will not take a dog unless it is about 8-12 months old. They dont want to wait to see what grows out of the 8 week old puppy..then the hips are not OK and they will go through 5 puppies before they have a dog they can work with. So I am all about finding a young dog that shows exactly what it is made out off.

Heidi... I feel your pain. I wish you luck!

I can even think of a few that get their dogs already having titles!  But you know what?  I don't care if the dog is HOT or not, it means nothing when he goes to breed.

I'm not reading all this banter and drivel, but anecdotally, I will say that my only experience w/Urxi and hips has been positive, both in temperament and hips. Dog has super hips (littermates ok as well) , and was selected for and started training for dual purpose PSD work. I also have to note that Tom z PS is the g-grandsire on the bottom side, so I don't give all credit to one dog, of course. Of course, the only other unbiased sources I would have to confirm this would not be what Daryl considers credible, as I believe the same PO is one of them;-)

Jeff, you're incorrect; AKC does not note any SchH titles on papers. Zip, zero, zilch, nada.

Urxi progeny exist that have had their hips certified?  Such a simple question, and all I see is a lot of beating around the bush.  No, I wasn't asking about anyone's "opinions" of their hips.

I believe that may be about to change...

Recording Working Dog Titles – German Shepherd Dog Club of America
Mr. Ljungren reported on a request from the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA) for AKC to record Working Dog titles earned by German Shepherd Dogs in events held by the GSDCA - Working Dog Association. Mr. Ljungren indicated that without objection, AKC will record ten schutzhund titles for the GSDCA when such titles are earned in events held by the GSDCA - Working Dog Association. The approved titles are: BH, SchH1, SchH2, SchH3, IPO1, IPO2, IPO3, SchHA, FH1 and FH2. There was no objection.

I think it's high time they did note them, but as of right now, my latest peds that have been mailed don't have any pretty letters or numbers after the names;-)

On Urxi hip certs, I don't own direct Urxi progeny- I sold a litter of Urxi grandkids and they all walked fine though. LOL!

Only kidding......................in all seriousness, the one I had didn't have permanent ID so OFA would not certify- or at least that's what I was told, but looking at the site, I think they would've...they just make a notation on the certificate that the dog has no permanent ID. Good hips though. Not prelim age- over 2.5yrs old.

Frankly, I am about finished with OFA- too political. Had a very interesting experience that finally served as the straw that broke the camel's back.

OFA is too political ? WTF are you talking about ?
