Bancroft....keep talking through your mouth.....It never ceases to amaze me how armchair internet people, show owners, breeders, and exhibitors are the ones trying to convince the world about the working ability of the showdog. Why do you "never" have any k-9 police officer, police trainers, heads of police academies, world class sport trainers,  EVER come out publicly and verify this point. I mean you never never never hear this garbage from the people who actually practice real working. Don't you think unbiased owner of the GS, realizes the reason for the deafening silence, on the part of  top working practitioners about the skills of the showdog. From an across the pond view, it would appear that your three organizations should form something (like United Sch Clubs of America), and make a clear delination from what the KC allows. This way you can also have the beauty shows (USA has a seiger show), and promote the type of dog that the GS ought to be....Good Luck...but in order for this to work, you must base it on truth of what the breed needs to improve on or you will only be marginally better than the KC.

BANCROFT.    My post did not in anyway infer to the information you require so do not exagerate my post !!!.

SOME of the police forces in the U.K. that do have their own breeding program have in recent years been improving their bloodlines very well but SOME are still using any dogs that are donated with or without pedigrees !.

And for the last time go and do your homework before you burst your own tiny bubble .......... and finally just to put the record straight THERE IS a fair amount of good operational police dogs in the U.K. that are from showing bloodlines , I'm sure there are plenty of show breeders on this board who have supplied them at some time or other that will verify it !.

Bill,David,Sam,Mo etc

There isnt going to be a split in the breed. There isnt enough grass roots support for it in the UK. We must work with the Kennel Club.End of argument. I will not be posting on this topic any more. Good luck to everyone & their dogs

Regards
Ally

PS

I think its very convenient that noboby wants to ansewer the question as to what happens the working GSD in all this?

BANCROFT.   Here we go again .......... I did NOT say the police had show dogs in their breeding program at all !!!!. I said that show breeders had supplied them with dogs that are good operational police dogs and the police were improving their bloodlines in their breeding program ....... MEANING that the breeding stock that SOME forces are using has vastly improved from the mediocre nondescript bloodlines that were being used .

The handlers may not give a toss about the dogs construction but its not them that are in charge of the breeding program is it ( most of the time ).

This has gone far enough now Bancroft so now please stop .... this is NOT what this thread is about.

On a thread as serious as this one is you should not remain ANONYMOUS it is for people who care about the German Shepherd Dog and you clearly don't !.

The answer to your last question is already answered in my earlier post if you read it correctly.

Im with Bancroft on this....

Linern, he asked:

Name me just a few  SHowline dogs who  competed at WUSV or FCI level??? WHY DON'T YOU do your homework. Stop spouting on things which you patently have no clue about.

'Stop living in the bubble of show life and wake up and smell the roses. The show line GSD is an inferior working dog, plain and simple.
They are molly cuddled through their SCH degrees in Europe so they can get on with their real purpose in life, circle running, ribbon coveting and puppy making machines. '

Before you start up with diarrhea of the mouth again, answer both of us these questions.
I dont think English Cops even carried guns up until a few years ago..I cant imagine their dogs were much better equipped in the K9 department.

Just catching up a few comments the KC will not want to become a member of the FCI otherwise they would have to introduce compulsory health tests and restrictions on scores of hips and elbows before progeny could be reigistered, this would also upset the Police forces as they dont elbow score or rarely a couple of Manpol dogs scored for ED one with a grade 2, otherlines they have used have also produced dogs with ED. Some forces breed from bitches with high scores on hips, so again this would impact on their breeding programmes. Another reason the KC wouldnt agree to be a member country of the FCI is they would loose out on all the registrations from puppy farmers/dealers etc. which isnt allowed under FCI regulations.
Re Malinois I know of at least 1 force that stopped using them as the handlers werent competent enough to handle them.
During the 90's both Westmids and Manpol based their programmes on dogs bought from showline breeders, Lothar v h Boombos produced 2 litters 1996 four pups went into police service, later he produced prison service dogs.
Rafaye Kimon of Limasmythe DOB 6/10/98;  sired 14 Police Dogs, his Daughter Limasmythe Apache Dawn DOB 13/3/2000, went onto to produce 6,  There was a Cemar bitch in the 90's that produced several litter for the force,
Then you have Tirgram Rubin DOB 13/10/2000, a son of http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/20964.html , who sired litters for Merpol in 2002, 2003 etc.
No doubt several breeders on here have contributed, yes I agree a lot of European Worklines are now being introduced esp from the NDL, but they have not completely changed as yet.

Whilst there are a few workline breeders reading this thread can I ask why they are not health tested, no ones lines in particular, but surely if they had the welfare of the breed at heart they would health test, and dont reply that they dont have HD or ED because those few tested prove they do.

We can argue all day about breed v working and working v breed however the thread is about do we split from the Alsation, which is very easy to identify through its pedigree, if some of you want to argue about shoud the breed split from the working i suggest one of you set up a thread to do so, i am a GSD enthusiast and see through both ayes however my third eye is the one i look at the alsation from
