Man , this stuff isn't rocket science. Eap44 ,you don't owe a explanation to anyone. The first protection dog I ever saw was in 1957. I owned him, I trained him, And HE DIED PROTECTING ME. I was a 10 year old kid. The only heel I knew anything about was the one I wore out in my sock. This GSD pup was given to me by a shoe shine man at the entrance of a Newburys dime store in Visalia,ca. He never ate anything but left overs after our meals, or might have shared a candy bar if I could round up a nickel. His training was taught by living. We played cowboys and indians, war, and king of the mountain. If a intruder came around he would always walk right in front of me seperating me from the person. He would be very calm and just have a low growl. When dad was going to give me a whipping he took him down and had his arm buried in his mouth. When I hollerd at him he let him go. On my birthday my grandad was going to give me a birthday spanking and I made a mistake I ran and jumped on top of his pen and my grandad was chasing me and Garr exploded on him. When I got home from school the next day they had shot him. Look I'm all for training, I'm all for obedience. But it is all worthless without the dog. EAP44 sounds to me you are very responsible. Keep training, bonding with your dog, and the best to you.

My dogs are very distrusting of strangers, so I can't imagine it. I guess I will never know until I stage something. I will have to do that.
If you see this in training, do you suppose it may be caused by training these dogs in prey?
Or, what I should of said is breeding these very high prey dogs? Or both. Or neither.

Unless you have tested your dog on it, you will never know. I am speaking of a situation where an assailant is on top of the handler.
I have no problem being proved wrong
