I could not have said that any better Bill, it is with genuine feeling and cafeful thought, i wonder if the reps from our new partnership feel the same way or wether they feel keeping their jobs is more important, rmember some on this new partnership are actually involved in the KC as part of the KC conflict of interests i wonder!

The Breed Council have complete survey data for over 800 GSD`s and the information that was required of them at the time of Survey . All this information is now upto date and is probably holding more information than the KC on these particular dogs . Should any system be set up in the future regarding our breed my main consideration would be to cover health issues and registrations with no need to go outside of the KC as long as our critiera was met regards to the proposal recently put forward by the partnership group. Surveys being one of the requirements. The problem we have here in the UK is a united front. The Breed council is a non-profit making body who rely on subscriptions from a monthly Magazine and annual Survey Book both of which are just able to survive due to the  current uptake of the Magazine. When I hear of breaking away and forming our own Uk club and System ,Registrations etc I find this hard to believe when a large majority do not even support the Magazine. It is hard enough to get some memberclubs to pay the annual fee which at the last count was I believe £30. I think the first step to show a united front would be for everyone ( or Kennel) to support the Breed Council Magazine and consider this a MEMBERSHIP FEE. With this you receive a monthly Magazine just like the SV ( at least we would all be able to read it) . Not only would this keep the Magazine going but if it was called a membership then for the first time we would have a UNITED Group of which we could take forward and show our numbers. The Magazine would get better and we would have more articles and letters from our increased subscibers. I am fed up with people saying I lend mine to my friends when I have read it. Or there is never anything interesting enough to read?? It is our Breed and this is our Magazine, for the sake of recent events we must make sure we keep it going and consider my proposal that it is the nearest we have to say we belong to collective group. The problem we have with all the different clubs in the UK is that we are not counted as one body. Okay it`s £20 to join Bagsd or the League but this is to use their facilities, mainly now with the Working Branches or the VPG and other weekly training which is on offer. With this both offer  only 3 magazines per year. In Germany you have to be a member of the SV to enter any shows or complete in any activity this cost more than the current price of a years subscription to the Breed Council Magazine. With the income from all the dogs surveyed and everyone receiveing a Magazine by way of membership this would fit very nicely with the proposal put forward by the partnership to the KC, and before long we would be a United Group . At the moment we are not strong enough, in numbers maybe we are  but not collectively. A bit long winded, but this I think is the best way to show our numbers and strength and at the same time staying within the KC but controlling our own future of the Breed in the UK.

This is just my opinion the GSD partnership will get no where with the KC quite simply because the KC are inviting this conflict, why do you think they want these changes in the FCI/SV breed standard (it is not for the health of our breed because they will not make the current health checks we have compulsary) why use a picture of an Alsatian, we have been a thorn in there side for years and they intend to put us in our place For us to have any chance of winning this conflict we would need all breeders/exhibitors of GSDs to sign a petition outlining our proposals if we cant get all of these people to agree then its divided we fall it has to be all or nothing

The KC are sitting on a position of strength because they will say that not all exhibitors/breeders of GSDs are against the changes and we will need to prove we have a majority against these changes and also secure the backing from the FCI/SV/WUSV for the GSD in Britain to conform to the true international standard and to make all current health checks compulsory not voluntary because as I said above it has to be all or nothing no compromises

Member, (John), It's good to know the council has retained the 800 breed survey info and is upto date, Does that mean I can go into their data base and obtain that info?. If not! why not!  It will be interesting to see if the criteria is met ,proposed by the partnership group. If it's not! or maybe only drip fed for the next 20 years, How much more time is the partnership group going to allow the K.C. before they say enough! is enough! The problem about not being a united front has nothing to do with the poor sales of the Breed Magazine, It seems the magazine is loosing money, due to being outdated, boreing, poor content, information takes to long to get out there, It's probably as interesting as reading The Catholic Times! People want information today! not in 6 weeks time. Can the Breed Council Website not be set up to do what all upto date news media is doing, you dont ever need to buy a newspaper, it's all on the internet! I know some people will say, "But I'm not on the net" We need to think in the 21st centuary, about what are needs are, and how to meet them. John says, "we must keep the magazine going", Why! It's nearly dead in the water, Its loosing money, that the Breed Council can not afford. It was a way of  communication  30 something years ago, but now it's run it's race. John talks about it being the best way to show our strength staying in the K.C. but controlling our own future in the U.K. "John" if we stay in the K.C. you can say goodbye to controlling anything but a failing magazine. Linern..
How many Showline dogs compete at the Bundessieger?  Or at Worlds Trials?  Or work as Working K9s Police/Military?  Humour me, please..

You give me a few examples, that are Anomolies of the Showline breed.  There is no trend, no pattern in these dogs, with regard to their working ability,  or lack thereof.

I see Dutch Shepherds that really arent that aetically pleasing to gawk at, but will herd sheep all day & die defending their masters,  And that to me is.... Beauty.

 Seven Pines Kennel,Frits from J. Steijns scales a 8''8'
(2.65m) wall

Sort of what the GSD used to look & work like..Notice the square 10x10 build, no sway or roach.

We are seeing a very interesting debate with a wide range of views i for one think the BC is a no go, they may well have all the info but act like secrest squirrel society, you cannot find out from the website the results from the last survey or the date of the next, a further big no to BC is the lack of WUSV membership, we need to motivate our WUSV member clubs to fully involve themselves in the protection of our breed , in the same manner as the other clubs in the WUSV such as the SV VDH and VVDH etc etc

The More I see of these Uncorrupted Dutchies, the more impressed I am.
No papers, No registration. No Dog Shows.
No AKC. No Egos. No Politics. No BS. No conflicted breeders 'interests'
Just Working ability

Uglydog

Your logic is wasted on this thread. Working ability is the least of their concerns.

For me, the working GSD is a already different breed. No serious working line breeder will ever cross onto showlines anyway, and vice versa.
