UGLYDOG.   You must be having a laugh hey !,..... can't have the best of both worlds you say ........ what a load of rubbish that is !, combination bloodlines have been used and been successful for years on the continent, old hat in fact so maybe you should take a good look at the bloodlines ( off the pedigree's ) of some of the very well respected working bred dogs past and present ...... you will find there are show  dogs behind many of them !!!!, and vice versa !, and some I might add are not badly constructed either ( bar a few 'Uglydogs' of course ! ).
Take a look at  ' Harro Aus Der Lechrainstadt ' just for one , ( one of many ).
There will always be good and not so good on both sides of the coin working and showing ......... I do not of course include the Alsatian types etc which should never have been allowed to carry on for this long in the first place thanks to the K.C. again !.

I believe this post is going no where, I am from Ireland & I do believe you have to work with the kennel club to rectify the problems.A split in the breed is NOT the ansewer.Joining the FCI is a good start . I pose a few questions that I,m sure are on most peoples minds

1) Would you trust any of the GSD organisations to have total control over your puppy registrations & Breeding programme?
2) If the split did take place would the working GSD be included as it nearly a separate breed on its own?
3) Do MOST GSD enthusiasts really want a split? This post is being ansewered by a select few
4) Would the SV REALLY advocate a split (they cant even get their own house in order)

Just food for thought & please no one take it personally as I know you ALL mean well

Regards
Ally

Ally, I can see what you mean and there are only a very few posting on here, though, there are doubtless more reading.

How many times do we go through this with the KC?  What reasonable excuse can there be for NOT implementing certain health checks?

I'd rather get rid of the KC,  If the Alsatianists want to stay, (and I guess they would) that's fine.

I think the biggest problem is... who would be in charge and who would run the show.  Our BC is the obvious choice, but no-one here seems too happy with that.

Thats because the  B C do nothing, list out their acheivements for the last 5 years, they refuse to include any form of work test into the survey ignoring the very fundement of our BREED

Reason... do try to keep your hair on!  It was an observation... not a criticism!

by reason on 21 January 2009 - 10:01

Lost the hair many years ago together with my patience of the B C

The only way this can go forward is with the 2 WUSV member clubs either forcing the KC to comply (not going to happen)
Breaking away and setting up a SV type system with the WUSV s support (a unlikewly but very very slight possibility)
A breakaway group similar in principle to the  old BSA setting up a almost renegade system (unlikely to happen as the breed people would see that they had to much to loose pups sales etc

Reason, (baldy)  if it's done properly, there should be few problems, puppy sales wise... but it does require a lot of work re: data input, registrations, health checks etc... this is all do-able.

It's the first step that's so hard, it always is... then we'd spend the next 5 -10 years asking ourselves why it took us so long!

I've offered some hours FOC every week, to help get the admin' side of things done, that offer still stands to... whoever!

by reason on 21 January 2009 - 11:01

it is possible, BUT NOT SURE IF ENOUGH HAVE THE HEART for it the battle would be long and hard imagine breeding a litter of NONE KC reg pups and selling them to Jo public for them to  find that the kc refused to acknowledge them!

Yeah... there would have to be some serious and prolonged marketing involved.  We can do that... individually and collectively too.  Heart for it?  Remains to be seen, I guess.

D. Payne is right, the reps, meeting the K.C. need a very clear mandate from the breed clubs on which way they want to go. If they dont get one, they will end up agreeing or doing what the K.C. talk them into. If the mandate is to split, they need to inform the K.C. NOT ASK! but inform them it will be on whatever day the council agree upon. I dont think the K.C. will discuss this issue at this coming meeting, they will want to defer it to another day ,their useual tactic! If any member of any club decides to resign fom a committee you dont ask the club can you resign! You hand a letter in with a date and maybe a reason. If the reps go to the K.C. without a mandate and fudge the issue, The K.C. will love it, they will keep meetings going for years, if there's one thing they are good at it's that!   ALLY B, Breed clubs wont have control over registrations, The new set up would have a registration dept, run correctly for the benefit of all members. Remember the K.C. have had many years of running admin dept, We can use as many of their good sysems that suit us and implement them.  If we get a mandate to split, then most  enthusiasts would have said, YES!   The S.V. would welcome a country falling in line with europe. Ally b, no one takes it in a personal way and it's good that people air their views and concerns. I would say to all members of clubs, dont be afraid of a radical change, if it happens we have enough good and honest people to make this rebirth grow from strength to strength. Also it will rekindle a new vigor and determination, to become the envy of many breeds who continue to be strangled by a negative thinking K.C. Bill Owen.
