BabyEagle, I think that's a juvenile Bald Eagle:

Juveniles are completely brown except for the yellow feet.  The plumage of the immature is brown, speckled with white until the fifth (rarely fourth, very rarely third) year, when it reaches sexual maturity.[

And, I'm wondering if what you're calling a Thunderbird is maybe an immature female Bald Eagle:

Males and females are identical in plumage coloration, however females display reverse sexual dimorphism and are 25 percent larger than males.[1]

Re: the baby eagles being pushed out of the nest, and dying, I found this:

It is not uncommon for bald eagle chicks to peck their weakest sibling to death in a gruesome display of "survival of the fittest."

This is a female bald about 3 years old. Big difference if you ask me compared to the pix uptop of the yearling..

Here's the same female not quite 4 years old.

You can't see it in this picture good but her head and tail are still speckled, the back of her head is still brown, that's about it. Maybe this will give you an idea.

I have a degree in biology, and have also belonged to several naturalist's clubs for many years. If  a third species of eagle were to show up in N. America, it would be FRONT PAGE HEADLINE NEWS with the local press, and with the clubs I belong to.  Both the bald and golden eagles can have wingspans close to 8 ft. (the goldens tend to be a bit bigger). For an eagle twice that size to show up, everyone would know about it.

Just my 2 cent's worth, BabyEagle. Not trying to insult you, just stating the facts as I know them.
