Prager

LOL Difference without distinction. What ever,... you, I, we all talk to people who are around you, me, us. You can not talk to people who are not "around you" directly or indirectly. This is being stupid.

Notisyou I am not lying. You are the one brought Bible - specifically Old Testamant  into this discussion and not me. Then when I pointed out your sophistry you called me a liar. Typical.

Hans - if you can get that it's "because (I am) surrounded by atheists, thus (I) do not meet any christians" out of my remark that I have "met more atheists ... who are a good deal more familiar with the content of both Testaments than lots of ...christians", then it is not only your comprehension of English which is lacking. It is also your ability to recognise logic; and your failure to have any 'common sense'.
Of course we talk to those 'around us'; those we meet. But we do that again and again, over a lifetime. Our circumstances change; those who share them with us change. Who we talk to changes and so does who we HEAR (listen to). And knowledge accumulates. Perhaps you should try doing some LISTENING to other people, both those immediately around you and those you hear at one remove, by their writing and broadcasting etc. Certainly do not try to assume that someone else (in this case, me) is as deaf to the views held by other people as you seem to be.

Hundmutter, please do not worry yoiur ghead about  my comprehension of English. I assure you it  is quite good. Thank you very much. And please do not worry about my logic,...please  worry about yours since it is peculiar that you do not understand that you, same as all people, tend to gravitate to people-with alike mind, believes and similar interested. For example I am sure you as an atheist do not go to bible study in churches on regular bases same as I do not go to gay bars or do not attend communist fund raisers. Thus you as an atheist tend to be more with people who are atheists. On top of it even though there are some atheist quite proficient in knowledge of bible, your statement that more atheists know bible better then most Christians is quite outlandish.

I think some people who are atheist know the bibleS so well because they didn't start out as atheists and only came to their conclusions after reading the non-sense of the bible and getting half of a brain. The earth is way older than the bible presents it as. An ark large enough to hold 2 of every species on earth? With humans wiped out we should all descend from Noah and his children but we don't. Logic should tell you there is something wrong with biblical stories. Is this then considered brainwashing?

@Prager, I called you a liar because you stated that I made a case for equivalency when it comes to the behaviors of Muslims and Christians when I only made a case for an equivalency in the Bible and the Koran when it comes to what is written. So either you are a liar or can't read as well as you claim (boast). We know you won't admit to either.

Also, I pointed out your sophistry. In fact, your accusations of sophistry are often themselves sophistic.

As far as the people you are around goes: the fact that you believe Oriental is an acceptable term for an Asian shows that you are not around many people who know it's 2016.

Finally, we can actually settle this argument about Biblical knowledge. According to the Pew Research Center atheists and agnostics demonstrate having more religious knowledge than believers. I believe Prager used a survey from Pew when he was arguing about Sharia law so he will accept their findings as accurate.

When it comes to Christianity specifically, Mormons and white Evangelicals did best but atheists and agnostics did better than other Christians and Christians as a whole.

Prager: that is your fantasy, it simply isn't the way things are, or have been in my past. I have NEVER as far as I am aware lived or worked anywhere that there were more atheists than christians around me; I have never selected my friends and contacts on a basis of whether they believe in god or not. I think it is true that probably the majority of everybody I knew at any one time was christian, albeit with a very small 'c'; i.e. not religiously committed, churchgoing etc, but they still, when it came down to it, believed in the existence of god. That is, when they didn't have an alternative faith altogether. But many friends have been very committed, church attending, folk of christian faith. Where I now live is based on an ancient christian community, and still has its own active chapel; I regularly talk with our vicar, and his wife. Most of my neighbours have one degree of belief or another in the christian god, in fact I think I am the only one among all who live here who openly declare a lack of faith. So you see, you really should not ASSume that my situation is what you have claimed it to be, and it follows that you are on unsafe ground in believing that of anybody (unless they actually TELL us they only really mix with like-minded persons). I was even christened, as it happens, although not then
brought up "in a religious household". As my immediate family never numbered more than 8 people in total, and one grandma was a lapsed churchgoer who still read the Catholic Herald newspaper, I wasn't surrounded by atheists then, either.

Try being an atheist in the military. You'll find out that PC culture comes in many forms.

@GSD Admin, studies have shown that atheists tend to be more intelligent and have open minds so are welcoming of new experiences and open to learning.
