I like Alex. He is a solid V dog.
But I like my dog Carol better. I felt a lot better about not having entered my slightly out-of-condition but ring-savvy dog after watching the last 30% of the class fall apart, although I am certain he would have had to drop dead to get the last V this time. ;)
See you in St. Louis, Maxim, if not sooner. I'll be the one calling the dog right in front of Alex.

Make that the "mentally deficient" one with the green face... calling the dog in front of Alex.
Wouldn't want you to get me confused with Molly in case I can persuade her to call my dog from the corner opposite me, so I'll wear my trade mark hat.
Bwah, ha ha ha ha ha ha

Jasper von Kleinen Teich, I may have the spelling butchered a bit, was on of the males "awarded" a G, and dismissed. This dog is all showlines, yet the judge simply catagorized him verbally as a working line, and included him in the last 3. No way in h*ll this dog is a G dog, I watched him gait and although his ring training could have been slightly improved, he was showing very well, handled by Claudia Romard. The third one was Hassan, of the same kennel. This dog did indeed have very poor ring training...but not Jasper...I was floored. Still am. I do not know who the other dog was in between them. At a time when we are stil eager for people to compete as Universal Sieger, and this dog has it in him, I felt very devastated for the owner who has at least a couple years hard work invested in him towards reaching this goal. I should just keep my mouth shut, and I am very pleased for Alex and Pedro...a great team as Alex is indeed a very nice dog and they don't come any sweeter than Pedro, but maybe the idea was to narrow the pool...yikes..I hate having that thought ping around my head.....

$500 to $1000 for a handler for one class??!!! Boy, I'm glad I never wanted to show a GSD, I couldn't afford that LOL. I think I too will stick to AKC shows and maybe UKC ones where one can handle their own dog and win under many judges. UKC doesn't even permit pro handlers.
How many licensed SV judges are there? Seems to me it's the same ones show after show.

Ditto that Molly!! Anyone writing this kind of shit must not have seen the Siegerschau. Where are you coming from maxim? Keep out of this conversation you don't know her GSD's she is a great handler. Molly ignore that individual don,t waste energy on that. Babe

Molly, Yes. Jasper and Hassan were both entered in the Universal Sieger competition. Hassan was a very unruly dog in the ring and did not show himself he is a very well built dog with nice rear drive and type, However Jasper showed him self VERY well and they looked great!
Kandi and Dee: Thank you for the support! :) I am still very upset about this. This dog clearly has the drive and the ability to do well, is not a "G" in the body and gaited nicely. This rating was just a complete dismissal before it even started. People talk about the 'golden middle' all the time. For those of you who where there, he had a great performance test as well. I guess this is just another example where the lines will continue to grow further and further apart. I sure as hell won't try it in the future. What's the point? Very discouraging.

Julie, I can fully understand why you, Kandi, Dee and many otheres are upset over that rating! I to was shocked! I agree, Jasper is NOT a "G" dog. He had his head up and gaited nicely. He showed very well and Claudia did one heck of a job showing him! I wasn't at the performance test, but several people said he did great!
The thing that bothered me was the way the dogs were dismissed, as if they weren't worth looking at. Obviously, the judge didn't look at them! Jasper is NOT a workingline male! It shouldn't matter if the dogs are workinglines or showlines, the owners PAID their entry fee like everyone else did. Those dogs deserved to be noted with more respect than what was given by that judge.

There seems to be a lot of ignorance(not stupidity) on the part of many of those that write to this list.
1. All working class males must have a Sch2 title to compete for VA their first year and a Sch3 title for their second year. Females can get away with a Sch1 and Sch2.
I realize from the many comments I read, that most of you are more working class and not show class exhibitors. However, your Sch tiles on your dogs are scored in the same way those that the show people have on their dogs. the major difference, is their dogs, because of their greater expense are capable of placing high at these shows and most of the working dogs are not. A "G" rating is all thats required to breed a working dog and MOST, not all, working dog people are willing to settle for that. Next i will comment about judges.

Judges- The German judges brought in are the only ones who's ratings on your dog are accepted by the rest of the world as valid. USA while sanctioning their two judges at their events, no other club in the world, including the WDA organization will recognize their placings as real. I believe both USA judges, if under the age of 50 could apply for sanctioning with the SV if they wanted to go through the required training.
Still, we are the luckiest country in the world to have two Sieger shows in the same year. A place where those of us that believe enough in the quality of our dogs will risk the embarassment of a loss and the agony of defeat. Most of us that show at these events rarely knock the success of those that beat us, we took our chances and our dogs on a given day at a given hour either failed to perform as we had hoped or we failed them in not training them as well as we could. Remember these dogs now have a National ranking, those that did not enter or pulled, or disqualified do not. Rather than be critical of those that showed, next year enter your dogs and see where they rank. By the way, the reasons costs are so high is that someone has to pay for the judges airfare, room and board for 5 days. The same is applicable for the handlers which I will discuss next.
