When someone says all Muslims are terrorists or that we shouldn't allow Muslims to come because they could be terrists (sp). That is racism, yes you support a racist for public office, it means you buy into that thinking. If you would like I can list all races that are Muslim/Arab but that seems silly, kinda like your point here. Why are you questioning every thing I say? Don't you have dogs to train? Hans I have been reading your site for weeks and there is no doubt the way you feel about immigrants. So, this is my last response to you because you aren't answering my questions but you expect me to answer you.

btw Joan go to any comment site on the web and you can clearly see racism, good place to start is Reddit.com. It went here for years until oli said enough.

I hate to interject and be nit picky, but I tried to explain before, that the statement "All muslim's are terrists (sp)" is really prejudice based on race and technically not racism, per se. Racism has the added component of superiority of a race over another.

We all hate Nazism because of the ideology of Aryan superiority, and that is racism. Some people are prejudice against Jews because they think they are stingy with money. These are examples of racism and prejudice, in that order.

Prejudice means one's views are already settled before hand and often employ stereotypes. Stereotypes in themselves are not bad, because we use them in forming knowledge of our experiences, and are actually essential as a survival skill, all the time. It is when we don't allow for the exceptions and an individual's information to be part of our knowledge and search for truth, that people have problems with fairness. NO ONE likes to be denied opportunity for something that is not in their power to change (skin color/race) or because of something that has no bearing on whether they can be a part of what is needed for success in life (sexual orientation/prejudice).

IMHO

(I've never been to Reddit, and I'm thinking that is good thing!) LOL

Actually parts of Reddit are very good but it also has a very dark side. Racism for me is lumping a group together because some are bad. Like blacks you can't say they are all bad because some are bad.

I agree about what went on years ago, here, when certain parties employed the "N" word, here. It wasn't used in a brotherly sense then between fellow people of color. It was used purposely to denigrate, and that was the ugly head of racism rearing its head.

I just think every time someone has the gall to notice there is a difference of color, or eye shape, or hair structure, and gives it a cultural reference, it should not be labled automatically, as racism. If it is prejudice based on race, by all means, feel free to throw the book at them!

So being Muslim is a race?  I still would like you to tell me how I feel about emigrants. And what does it has to do with Orlando shooting. And to answer your question I will tell you I am a LEGAL immigrant and American citizen.

What book?

You pretend you don't understand figures of speech? Go to your own board for your ego stroking.

The intent is going to be understood— I think, by this Admin, in their oversight, and you don't get to rule, here. I too, remember your adamant Libertarian stance to never, ever violate "freedom of speech" as part of liberty calling.

That didn't last long, did it. Blah, blah, blah.

I know I am frankly getting sick of it for someone who thinks they are so smart you act pretty dense.

Race is a relatively new word. Racism and racist are even newer. We don't even know the origin of the word except that it entered English from French which got it from the Italian word razza (but it is not of Latin origin). It may even have entered Italian from French then back to French with a new spelling and definition.

Now, although the word race is new it was first used well before the concept of the human races as some define them (example: Caucasian, Mongoloid, Negroid) came into being. If one knows how Italians use the word razza things become clearer. It can be used to describe any group which has a particular characteristic that differentiates them from another group. In this sense it is similar to how the ancient Greeks and Romans viewed outsiders. In other words a group that shares a culture, language, history or ethnicity would be considered a race. An ancient Roman might refer to the Germanic race, although the Latin word is stirpes (not a cognate for razza or race but for the Italian word stirpe).

So using the word race as a way of classifying people by ethnicity and culture (religion could fall under culture) is not incorrect and is in fact a more correct way of using the word in that it is in keeping with its original usage. This is how the dictionary defines the word. It is also how the UN defines the word.

Also, whenever a person groups a people based on a similar characteristic, like religion, it is classifying them as a race. They can deny it but that is what they are doing according to the definition of race. There is also nothing wrong with that since viewing a group as a race is not automatically racist and does serve a purpose for anthropologists who view race more as a social construct than a biological one.

I should repeat this in case someone chooses to say I'm making this up: dictionaries define race as I described. This is not my definition or some "liberal" definition used by leftists.
